Fender 68 Custom Pro Reverb with Jensen C12N
I swapped speaker in my Pro Reverb and made some IRs with the new speaker. Nothing wrong with the original Neo Creamback, but I wanted a more traditional american sound. This was recorded using my Warmoth Tele and a Two Notes Captor.

Marshall JVM 410H vs Peavey 5150
มุมมอง 2.4K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Two beasts doing what they do best. Running through the same Marshall 1960AV IR from my own IR pack. Boosted with a Boss SD-1 with level maxed and gain at 0. The 5150 is a early 90s example. The JVM is from 2022. 00:00: JVM 01:02: 5150 Download the IRs for free: www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/1yf7rwf0q03u3kxle1ske/AKFZXt-zIFXF4_eEknK-R24?rlkey=3ducw8grvtdnpq4kl62fxk2pw&dl=0
I made a free IR pack!
มุมมอง 2192 หลายเดือนก่อน
I made an IR pack using my Marshall cabinets, a recent production 1960BHW loaded with Celestion Heritage G12H30 55Hz speakers and a late nineties 1960AV loaded with Marshall branded Celestion Vintage 30s (Marshall G12 Vintage). Softube Amp Room vs Real Amp

I recorded a snippet with my Ceriatone Plexi 50 and the Softube Marshall Plexi simulation to compare the two. Enjoy.
What makes a good guitar strap? Richter vs Pinegrove Leather
มุมมอง 3159 หลายเดือนก่อน
A warning to avoid this Richter Springbreak strap and a comparison with one really good and one average but cost effective strap.
Boss IR-2 vs real amp
มุมมอง 1.9K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
I recorded some tracks with the new Boss IR-2 to compare the "Brit" setting with my Ceriatone Plexi 50. I switched off the IR in the pedal and used the same IR as the amp in my DAW. Listen and see what you think. The song is my own work.
Stratocaster vs SG (P-90s)
มุมมอง 232ปีที่แล้ว
I recorded the same rhythm track with two different guitars; a 2019 Gibson SG Special and a pretty high-end Warmoth partscaster, to compare them. Turns out the difference in the mix is subtle to say the least. Goes to show you can play the guitars you are comfortable with and their sound can for the most part be shaped to fit what you are doing. The song is my own work.
Gibson SG Special Pelham Blue
มุมมอง 241ปีที่แล้ว
Just playing through part of a song with my SG special. It's modded with my own pickups and a Faber intonated wraptail. Going into my Ceriatone Plexi 50 with a slight boost from a TC spark booster on the distorted sounds.
Gibson Explorer and 61 Reissue SG - play through
มุมมอง 250ปีที่แล้ว
Playing through a new song with two of my favorite guitars. A 2009 SG 61 and a classic white 2010 Explorer. I'm running them into a slight boost from a TC Spark and then into my Ceriatone Plexi 50. For the solo I use a DOD Carcosa fuzz. The SG has original 57 Classics and the Explorer has Railhammer pickups (Hyper Vintage and Nuevo 90).
Railhammer Nuevo 90 vs real P90
มุมมอง 1.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Did this comparison for fun. My 2012 Explorer has a Railhammer Nuevo 90 in the neck and my 2019 SG Special has a slightly underwound P90 I wound myself. I feel the Nuevo sounds good, but more like a slightly tweaked humbucker than a true P90. Using Softtube Amp Room JCM800 module with a Celestion Greenback impulse. 00:00 Nuevo 90 00:56 P90
Warmoth Telecaster with Lundgren BJFE pickups
มุมมอง 7512 ปีที่แล้ว
A little sample of a new partscaster built from a Warmoth body and neck, Gotoh hardware and Lundgren pickups. The color is transparent sunset orange. The amp is a Ceriatone Plexi 50 straight in with a Celestion G12H30 impulse response. Reverb and delay added in Reaper.
Gibson 500T ceramic vs AlNiCo PAF Explorer pickups
มุมมอง 7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Did a little test with some "hot PAF" type pickups in my 2012 Explorer to see if I like them better then then original "Super ceramic" 500T/496R set. I wound the new pickups myself using 42 AWG wire and roughcast Alnico 5 magnets. They are 7.7K (neck) and 8.5K (bridge). In the end I think the super ceramics have more balls and a more distinct voice, so they will go back in.
"Patent Office" humbucker clones
มุมมอง 5462 ปีที่แล้ว
I got curious about the Throbak DS55 pickups, but I'm not about to pay 556 $ plus shipping for a pair of pickups... So I wound my own "slug only" PAF and put in my PRS SC 245. The amp is a Ceriatone Plexi 50 straight in.
Laney GH50L - stock vs modded
มุมมอง 1.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
You can get these sturdy old UK made amps for no money nowadays, so I got one as a fun project and tried to mod it into something Soldano/Friedman-ish as well as doing the basic service stuff (clean pots, recap, etc). Overall I'm happy with the result. I might do some more tweaks in the future and make some more videos on it. Stock with PRS: 0:04 Modded with PRS: 0:54 Modded with Gibson 2:18 Mo...

neo is better
I can’t stand the 498t. It’s ugly. Maybe it works for some. I have a 57 Classic pickup and it’s a lot tighter sounding.
What brand are the Alnicos?
@@angusorvid8840 I wound them myself.
When i close my eyes i can hardly distinguish the difference. Nice comparison and playing. Cheers!
thx ! what poweramp did you use to make the IR?

Both sound fizzy, probably the IR your using or cab.
100% with distortion pedal like everone else, alone marshall sounds like acdc crunch
Not the JVM's, they have an ungodly amount of distortion on tap.
They are both a dogs breakfast of crappy opp amps!
That’s 100% incorrect

Marshall JVMs really are awesome
If I plug the IR-2 into a studio monitor, I got a guitar amp, right? The IR-2 sounds good!
Thank you very much. Sounds great.
I think this video probably sold me on the 498 over the 57 classic.

490R+498T my preference
guys I just bought an explorer with 500T / 496R. It's great but I can't get brightness in the neck / bottom strings. Any tips?
Check if you have 300K pots, in that case, switch to 500K.
That's some very fine playing brother! Thanks for the review.
498T = 😋💘❤💯💪👍
Thank you ! very good Demo ! 57 classic + full @1:21 498T full @0:25
the construction of that Richter strap is shameful for what you paid for it. Pinegrove is expensive but I feel like you get a lot for what you pay for. I have one of their straps for mandolin and another for guitar. I wanted their fancier designs but it does get quite a bit more expensive than their most basic strap.
They do sound similar, and the difference in sound might be more due to the different pickups, and other things like the Floyd-style trem on the Charvel. In fact, if you notice, the neck pickup on the Charvel is right up against the fretboard, so it's probably in about the same position relative to the string endpoints.
I have the same amp I bought new in 1980 only replaced one tube and the standby switch after all these years. Just recently got a Friedman 2x12 cab for it , works great with this amp. Cheers.
Every EQ do the same
Great song mate!
Nice demo! It's shocking how good the IR-2 sounds.
Is your ir connected to the front of your amp?
No, the pedal is recorded direct.
Sounds really great. How about the Boss IR-2 as Audio Interface... have you tried it?
Yeah it works fine with Reaper
Thank you @@RCGreven
A bit more spank and sparkle on the 22 fret to my ears. This is a great comparison bc as you say, most 24 fret HSS guitars have hotter single coils whereas that particular Charvel has more vintage single coils. I've come to the conclusion that if I want a 24 fret guitar with coil sounds, I need an HH axe with parallel coil splitting!
For me, main difference is with the combination of neck + middle. Can you make a video with that?
2024 and I have returned to this video, still loving that song :) Just had to say to the world that I discovered you first! haha.. and what the hell is everyone waiting on! This video needs more likes!
Thanks a lot! I've been recording quite a bit recently so more things might pop up.
I’m super late to finding this video so hopefully I get a response! But I’m looking to put that same exact bridge on my mustang, did it line up with the original bridge holes? Or did you have to completely realign the bridge?
Cheers man. I had to dowel and re-drill but it's not too hard if you have a drill press or can borrow one.
@@RCGreven right on, I can use a drill press at work. Did the bridge sit in the same spot as the original or was there some more measuring to do?
@@marcuswells2494 I freehanded it and it worked out, but probably better to measure. 24 inches from the nut with some room for intonation in each direction on the saddles.
@@RCGreven thank you so much for the help!! I really appreciate you!

Original sounded better to me. More bite and clarity
Everytime I pick up my LP studio 498 I forget how good it is.
I prefer the 498T. The 57 sounds dull and boring
That the amp setting. The 57 classic + is by far the superior pickup. So more useable in so many ways.

Nice axe i got the matching explorer
Gibson explorers suck these days cause of the pickups. 500T is where the explorer feels home
I'm warming up to the 500T. I have a Gibson Les Paul Classic from year 2000, completly stock which I bought online two months ago. I play classic rock, 70s hard rock and I wasn't sure I would dig the 500T. In fact I was mentally ready to swap it for something a bit more PAF-like. However, after spending some time with the pickup and tweaking it to my taste by switching to 50s wiring, adjusting the general height of the pickup as well as each individual polepiece, I'm really liking the tone! It sounds best to me with the volume and tone knob turned down to about 8. Some nice Thin Lizzy, Alice Cooper, Gary Moore tones. It's a pickup built for rock n' roll though, can't really play anything else with it (well except Metal, I guess)
Kept the 500T in my classic for about 20 years, loved the sound, but ended up swapping in some Frailin PAFs a few years ago just for something different. Wish I'd known about 50s wiring earlier; makes the vol/tone controls way more responsive and would have made a big difference with the 500T/496R combo..
@@littlerattyratratrat Yes indeed, I experimented further with rolling down the knobs and you can totally get in the ballpark of a good early AC/DC tone, not overly crunchy but still with a lot of ooomph
Did you need to do a special cut for the bridge pickup?
This song sounds amazing. Your writing is top notch. With that out of the way, I like the tone of the ceramics more, but seriously, those white alnicos look amazing in that guitar. I'd have to go with some white cover ceramics.
Sounded best before

very nice. are the goth tuners a direct drop-in ? tks
No, you need to use conversion bushings, but they are easy to get hold of.
@@RCGreven thanks
Support real luthiers. Pay for good instruments. The money you wasted on this could have been for something so much better. Stupid TH-cam baiters.
Good playing! Is this a 76 reissue? I got one on the way and I’m excited to hear the 500T pickup in it.
Thanks! It’s not a 76 I think, since it has an ebony board, but everything else is identical. Maybe some limited run.
Is the neck pickup also alnico II?
Yes if i recall correctly they are both A2.
That sounds awesome
Sounds great! Are these the stock transformers from Ceriatone?
Yes all stock.
@@RCGreven great! I'm about to pull the trigger on the Plexi51 "All Access", which I believe has the same transformers. Have you been happy with the amp?
@@apeeg86 sure i’ve been using it for everything for years. Sold Mesas, Marshalls, etc but kept this one since it sounds the best.
