The Great Central Railway - Nottingham offers 10 miles of heritage railway running through the beautiful scenery of South Nottinghamshire and North-West Leicestershire.
Services are pulled by heritage Steam and Diesel locomotives, re-creating the experience of train travel from a time when it was more than just a means to get from one place to another.
The Great Central Railway (Nottingham) is a great experience for all the family. Come and enjoy a day with us!

37009 started earlier today (29th Mar 2015) for the first time in 7 years.
One of the best videos I've seen👏🏻👍
will gcrn half stay single tracked when the two meet
When the two lines are reunified, they will still operate as two separate heritage railways, not running the full line all the time. So the GCRN will probably only be fully relaid double track after reunification when they have the money.
it is hard to believe that this line was the most modern North - South lines opened in the country (1900 ish) built to modern standards but closed in 1966. Waste, stupidity, shortsighted, how much freight could it have kept off the roads if still existing?
Here's some Good 👍👍🍻🍻🍻🍻💰💷🚂 for the Eventual Completion of the Loughborough GAP & for the day when Steam pulled Passenger trains will traverse North out of Loughborough Central towards Ruddington & Nottingham South.
In 1983 37009 was allocated to thornaby tmd which was our local shed me and my mates used to go round on a Sunday morning collecting train numbers, and one driver let us all have ago at the controls of this engine ,, never ever forget it made our day in tees yard we were only eleven or twelve.. Fantastic to see she has missed the hot axe
Looks lovely, but sounds kind of ill!
Hello John. As the engine hadn't been started for 7+ years, the cylinder decompressors were partially open allowing the engine to fire without putting too much load on her (that is the hissing sound you hear)
