This is what East Coast Surfing is REALLY LIKE
The culture discrepancy between the East and West exists. There are good reasons for it. East Coast Surfers are by far some of the most stoked surfers on the face of the planet? Why? Because we surf these choppy, mixed up, windswells and many of us LOVE them. It's a different mentality where it relates to surfing. You have to want it, you have to love it.
I have lived on the West Coast and there are good waves all the time. It's mostly clean, it's more often than not rideable. That's not our experience on the East side. To score you have to be ON IT. To even get a wave sometimes you have to be ON IT.
We def aren't the kind to sit and complain in the parking lot because it's not perfect on the East Coast. If there are waves....we are going out!

Green Rooms Galore in Nicaragua este ano!! My favorite country for surfing! Offshore all day! Reefs, Beach Breaks, and even some points. The only place I ever considered getting out of the water when somebody told me to leave was when I lived on Kawai for about a year in the mid 90s . A guy about 100 pounds heavier than me that didn’t have any front teeth was surfing a shitty day at Hannah lay with one of the local “surf royalty”, and he told me to get my haole ass out of there. It wasn’t worth it considering how bad the surf was and that he looked like the kind of guy who didn’t care about the consequences of drawing an assault charge. The funny thing is I never saw him surfing there when it was good.

As a mma fighter that loves to surf i'd just wait for him on the beach
I grew up with Judo and Karate but all the things I was taught are directed at self control and avoiding violence. Not always possible but when it is the outcome is always better. For example I much prefer posting this video and humiliating this guy to fighting him, I also promise you that this video has also taught him some things violence maybe could not. He is obviously comfortable threatening violence but maybe not so much receiving attention for it.

I grew up in Guanacaste in the early 90’s and never once went to Nicaragua and I regret it deeply. I did surf witches consistently as a guide and had heard that the papagayo winds extended northward. Made me curious about the waves in Nicaragua. I truly hope Nicaragua doesn’t turn into another Costa Rica. It’s a completely different country now and the people are no longer that pura vida.
@@amremorse my uncle runs a hotel in Guanacaste. I spent so much time there. In Grande there are 300 brand new houses and they are building 1500 more. It has turned into Guiones. I feel what you are saying about Costa Rica, for reals. It's still a nice place but it is not what it used to be.
@@da_shreda I moved there in 1990 and learned to surf probably in 94. A busy day in grande was 20 guys in the lineup. Spread out. Week days you pretty much had the place to yourself. There was only the baulas hotel and a few houses on the water at north end. Hundreds of leatherbacks used to show up every night. It was a legit national park. Tamarindo was one single dirt road strip and another to go to langosta. You used to be able to pull up right in front of the break in langosta before they built that huge hotel blocking access. I was just there three weeks ago and I have a hard time calling this progress. I like yoga, sushi and surf shops as much as the next guy but man has it lost its innocence and its natural beauty. My parents had a little hotel in Playa Ocotal. So I suppose we were a part of the problem. And btw I stayed in grande on this last trip and I don’t understand how they can keep giving building permits when they have a massive water shortage in that region. The amount of construction I saw confirms your numbers. But it still has that one pulperia on the corner and that brings me back. There really was a pura vida spirit in the air in the early 90’s. People were more social, kind and inviting. The Americanization of the country is truly apparent and it’s even bled into the ticos value system. It has become a super consumerist society even surpassing Americans. Their love for brands and signs of status has become the norm. Their love for malls is unmatched. Anyway I apologize for the negativity stranger and I hope you cherish everyday living in Nicaragua even with all the hiccups I know you must be experiencing from living in a developing country. I once waited in line for seven hours while sweating bullets to renew my residency. Lol. Can’t be any worse than that.
@@amremorse my uncle started Baulus hotel! It's all good dude I was there a month ago and a local tried to fight me and hit me with his board even though we were the only two out. That place has gone crazy. I don't live in Nica but I spend a few months a year here. You should really come check it out it has amazing vibes.
