My late Father was a Royal Engineer he built a road from Dharan to Jogbani in 1971, 1972. I have a Kukri given to him by the Gorkas as they are called when he left to retrieve to England after building the road.

As Perfect as any Guards Regiment I am so proud of our Ghurkas Thank you Joanna Lumley for your Campaign to make their Pensions equal, and no, I have no issue in them Living here upon Retirement. I cant say that for the stupid Mass Immigration

Lovely, loyal troops are the Ghurkas amongst the bravest of the troops, yet gentle proud of their history.

As an Australian with family members who have served in the Armed forces without doubt the Gurkhas are by far the most impressive recruits that I have seen in the Commonwealth forces.

This was completely spoilt for me by stupid tourists shouting and talking all the way through. They have no respect for our traditions.

So, they are trained to decapitate heads with their weapon. I know they are great warriors, this is why the British have used them in their military ranks for centuries.

After few years in UK there will be more Nepalese gurkhas soldiers than British soldiers.

My son is an officer in the Ghurka Rifles. We are an East London working class family but my boy had the wit to get through Sandhurst and the judgement to join the Ghurkas. His mother and I swell with pride when we watch him march with the brave, wonderful Ghurkas. X

As some one of Scottish decent, but born an American, when I hear the bagpipes makes me shiver with pride. As for the Gurkha's I have nothing but the utmost respect for them. I too am a knife guy, and as I sit typing this, I have a Khukuri hanging on my belt. It is a great knife, which I bought from Khukuri House Thamel, in Kathmandu Nepal. And I am proud to wear it. I have many knives and a few swords, but the Khukuri, my Scottish Dirk, and my Bowie knife are my favorites. Be strong and stay safe.

This is the first time I’ve seen the Gurkhas in ceremonial mode and they are fantastic, so precise, not a step out of place. So glad they are on our side and take everything as a very big honour to be a Gurkha working with the British Army.

Who ever is talking I wish they would stop so I can watch the drill. She to loud.

my old uncle was in italy in ww2 and he was always glad when the gurkhas were around because the germans quaked in their boots and made them defensive not knowing when or where the gurkhas would go for them;

Does anyone know if they have live rounds? I know it may not be in the gun but will there be any in the pocket or belt just in case something happens?

That’s good control from that Police officer. Most probably one of the armed officers at Buckingham Palace

Gurkhas are such a fierce fighting force and yet so loyal & disciplined that the Brits decided to have their own Gurkha Regiment 200 yrs back after the inconclusive Aglo-Nepalese war. Their Bravery & loyalty is so legendary that Gokha Regiment & Gorkha Rifles are among some of the most respected regiments of the Indian Army too. Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw (Gurkha Regiment) used to proudly say: " If a soldier says he is not afraid of death, then he is either lying or He is a Gurkha!" I don't think any other ethnicity has the honour of serving in the most decorated regiments of the standing armies of 3 nations: Britain, India & Nepal.
