I just replaced my propane/electric refer in my motorhome with a 12 volt unit from Home Depot. It works great and only draws 7 amps. Maybe next time?

Truly a blessing that steering broke at the dock. Imagine if… 🤔 We also removed the original refrigerators and bought 110v replacements. Haven’t got to use them yet, but glad to see it is working well for you.

We replaced our fridge with a household fridge for a season. It served a purpose but we found a few shortcomings, including lack of fiddles (stuff tends to slide out when heeled) and the 120V is less efficient than 12V. There's also no good way to fasten it in place. However you absolutely can't deny the huge difference in price, its very tempting!

Yours is my favorite sailing channel. Every Sunday I look forward to watching your videos. You have such amazing camera work and you bring out the beauty in the nature around you, even in locations that aren't quite so scenic. I hope you get the bugs worked out of the boat so that you can finally just start enjoying yourselves without all the stress of breakdowns and repairs. That said, I guess on an older boat with so many complex systems, some amount of maintenance work comes with the territory. I dont think that was a Spanish mackerel. They dont have spots. It almost looks like a dolly, even a little like a salmon. but im not sure dollys are caught in the ocean. I've caught them in lakes and rivers

Sorry for your difficulties but it looks like lessons learned and everything is back normal. These things just happened. Please don't be disheartened .🇺🇸

Do yourself a favor and just get a hydraulic steering system. I did and would never go back. It's pretty simple to find a ram for that size sailboat and you'll never want to go back to cable. In my humble opinion. Glad it all worked out.

For the emergency rudder you might want to beef that up - it might do fine in calm conditions but if you need it during rough conditions the water pressure on the rudder could be too much for it. Happened to our boat with the previous owner - they ended up steering with a pipe wrench after the emergency rudder broke.

Love watching your videos. It feels like it’s been a real emotional journey for you both and something of an eye opener for you both. I admire your tenacity and determination to keep pushing uphill and only hope the highs just keep getting higher.
