Takashi Azuma: The Legendary Karate Master
Once you understand the biomechanics of fighting, you see useful movements and everything from dance to tennis.
There is no such thing as a bad martial art, just bad martial artists. Cross train everything.
It was so systematic because Ed Parker wanted it to be implemented in the school system. The principals great but some of techniques are unrealistic.
depending on what part of the country you were in the mid to late 70's = shutokan , jujitsu , judo thia kick boxing and wing chung were the most popular in nyc
That's actually correct. But anyway AmK was a popular style, especially in LA of course.
The old school guys back then were much more aggressive and used a lot more variety of kicks. They treated TKD like a fighting art rather than trying to cheese points with the electronic hogus. With that being said, it still has the weakness of leaving its practitioners open to face punches. Joe Rogan came from old school TKD, and I believe he said when he tried kickboxing, he was punched so many times in the face. Also, one of the early kickboxing fights of Steve 'Wonderkick' Vick, who has a TKD background, had shown he was caught with a lot of face punches until he got his defense better later in his career. Nevertheless, Olympic TKD is a real sport, and it does take a lot of energy and athleticism to fight in their rule set and training for it, too. Imo it's better than point-fighting Karate.
understanding and realizing rathr dãaaan memourring !!! daaaaaatiz jeeiyt kooooun duuuuuuoi ,,,,
Yes, I like your style for its comprehensive approach to self-defence, as in life we often meet stronger oppones and have to face and solve les comfortable situations. Only one thing I cannot understand the difference between Kempo and Kenpo. Anyway, Best wishes. Paul,69
In Japanese when a "np" is combined, than it is pronounced like "mp". So its written Kenpo but pronounced Kempo
The difference between kempo and kenpo is just the m and n. Was for marketing purposes. Originally kempo.
This system is derived from Okinawa Kenpo from Shigeru Nakamura. Seiyu Oyata was one of Nakamura’s top fighters. The system is based on full contact fighting with kendo armor called Bogu Kumite. While this video focuses on Oyata’s Kyusho Jitsu that is but a small part of the system. My Sensei Albert Geraldi (passed away last year) was one of Oyata’s senior students and was the first in the USA to be given the authority to teach Ryukyu Kempo from Oyata. His association as well as others have kept the Bogu Kumite in the curriculum. Kudo and koshiki spawned from this fighting.
This type of karate will work in the streets
Especially the part where they grab the opponent's gi (or clothing) while they strike.
sabaki tournament. enshin karate. my sensei, vernon owens, is delivering the knockout at the 6 sec mark.
🎭💪☄️🎯🚩💝🏹🗡⛹️♂️🐅🇨🇮
This isn't necessarily old school karate, this is Enshin and/or Ashihara karate (offsprings of kyokushin) they're actually quite young for karate styles (1980 and 1988) and they are still around like this. I do love the compilation though.
When I use term old school it means hard styles, less popular today It isn't about time, it is about styles. And Enshin is good reference. Thanks 🙏
Todd from breaking bad can throw hands

Very similar in principle to our small circle Wu style taiji.
This Karate has good angles. Everything about it is sublime. There is no hesitation.
Thank you for the shout out on your video. I'm dion1582!
Thx for the idea!
Those are Aikido techniques.
I would like to recommend indian martial art kalarippayattu
This looks like it would be pretty neat to study, both in the sense of learning a martial art in general and in the sense of it being a sort of time capsule regarding approaches and techniques and stuff.
Very reminicant of Chinese styles very stimulationg thank you for showing
Nice! Rare isn’t a big deal except it may hold on the original purpose! Looks interesting!
Hey, nice one.
Looks very similiar to 5 Family Style Gung Fu.
Looks similar with wing chun and panantukan.
Basically BaJiQuan TongBeiQuan. The roots of KaraTe was Five Ancestors Ngo Cho Kun WuZuQuan from Fujian Province in China. It's non pure hybridized art originating from five styles in China. Basically, a JKD gung fu style.
Kung fu. Intercepting. Less EISHAA. Intercept and destroy.
you have a Russian accent bro
this technics are very good But is there any guy who will attack like this in street or in compétition ?
Clip from “fighting black kings” I’ve also seen this on another documentary I can’t remember the name of 😂
Yeah
The chinese influence is clearly visible
This movements already using in kalaripayattu "adithada" kai sadhakam" ..etc (bare hands)
See if you can locate the 12 renzoukuken patterns that were names after the animals on the Chinese calendar.
Yeah, im a student of Shuri-Te, and I see the bunkai of it.
Ninja only took the most elite warriors from their ryu( or martial family or traditions) and allow them to become field agents to say there was no competition is absolute bullshit
Highest appreciation to Mr. Matsumura´s contribution to Karate. What I like most is his strategical approach thrrugh footwork and technical precision. May he rest in peace. A great masn of Karate he was. Paul,69
The first few technique he did resemble the techniques from the kata PINAN NIDAN FROM WADO RYU........this also resembles elements from WADO RYU GIHON KUMITE....
Almost all Okinawan styles have Naihanchi, Pinan, Kusanku, and Passai, or variations of them. Even Seisan.
this looks like what we do in bujinkan ......very similar.......
Id like to see a video on Yoshin Shindo ryu or Daito ryu Aikijujutsu, I feel they some what similar to Kishomoto Di
Try to make a video about Gyakushin Karate.
Big bullshit 😂
Foreigners showing karate when it nort there tradition should not showing it nor teaching , it aint your defense art it not your tradition ,Foreigners should not have rights to train and practice the art , like Bruce showing off a Chinese tradition to Foreigners , like American military stealing tradition from kung-fu Then Foreigners show bullshit of themselves on T,V and movies ,
Crap!
How can you be demonstrating a defensive art when none of the attacks shown are done with the speed, force and commitment as would be if someone was in a life and death struggle.
No wonder it is rare. I mean, who would want to just do complaint drilling without any kind of free sparring?
reminds me of some silat that I have studied.... is this a hybrid form of karate, or a traditional form?
The Karate Nerd did a deep dive in the history of Karate, and he found that Okinowan Karate (the original branch of Karate) actually had influence from Southeat Asian martial arts due to the trade routes connecting the island to that area. So Silat looking similar aligns with that hypothesis.
Kamishin Ryu is less known
I can see some aspects in common with other styles. Some aspects remind me of Uechi-Ryu and WingChun. Some of the throws have a certain resemblance to Ganseki-nage and other moves from the Bujinkan. Intersting in any case, thanks for sharing.
das sind sehr richtige und schöne übungen.
