Travel Through Nature by Alex Beernink

Enjoy the beauty of nature with these cinematic shots of nature and its creatures with a perfect, often epic soundtrack! On this channel I will post my best shots I have filmed of the beauty of nature. Mostly in my own surroundings in Doetinchem, the Netherlands, but sometimes a little further.
I hope my videos will encourage you to enjoy and cherish the beauty of nature. And if you have the chance: go out and see, hear and feel it for real.
In the section 'De Zumpe' you can watch all the videos I have made so far about this nature reserve near Doetinchem: 120 acres of mainly wetlands, permanently wet or flooded forests and meadows.
You can also enjoy birds, butterflies or dragonflies in sections dedicated especially to these beautiful creatures.
In the section 'South Africa" I have posted my video report about my holiday trip to South Africa, early 2020, with a lot of wildlife.

The Large Marsh Grasshopper (Stethophyma grossum) is found mainly in Europe, and rarely in Western Asia. In the British Isles, it is the largest species of grasshopper. This beautifully colored insect is typically found in wet meadows and marshes. The color is greenish yellow to yellow with clearly bright red hind hips and a yellow hind thigh. On the hind thighs there are rows of spines that are black in color and therefore stand out clearly. The light yellow colored edges of the pronotum are clearly curved towards each other. Both males and females are long-winged with the wing tip extending beyond the tip of the abdomen. Sometimes red spots appear on the head, body and legs (as can be seen in this video) and the antennae may also be reddish.
Enjoy the beauty of nature!

This grasshopper reminded me of my childhood summers in the countryside. Thanks for sharing TT. I have subbed your channel.😊🍁
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Lovely film of this very colorful and beautiful grasshopper! Best regards, Cathy
Thanks Cathy, this grasshopper indeed has extraordinary colours. Most of the different species around here are green or brown, but this one really stands out!
Fantastic video, beautifully edited and filmed.💚 Wonderful scenes of birds and amazing close shots of the spiders. Best regards, Cathy
mooi exemplaar. Mooie beelden
Dank je! Met name die rode kleuren vind ik bijzonder bij deze soort.

Great shots!
Thank you! Despite not having a dedicated macro lens, I was able to get the grasshopper quite close with my all-round camera. 🙂

geweldige close ups
Dank je! Blijft lastig in al die begroeiing, maar na een tijdje raken ze aan me gewend en komen wat vaker tevoorschijn.
👍 Very nice video recordings and excellent quality. We have hardly any grasshoppers this year 😢
Thank you! Here we have many of them and a nice variety of species. But this is my favourite...
So nice 🌻 🦋 👍

Great capture 👍 I've hardly seen any grasshoppers or crickets here this year 🤔 Maybe I should wear my glasses while hiking 🤓 🦗
@@Alien-mu7ex Thank you! Yes, you have to look carefully because these are not the biggest grasshoppers around, but once you spot one, you will probably see more....
Echt mooi.
@@berthendrikx Dank je Bert!
Great capture 👍

Dank je Piet!
Fabulous! Such great variety. The Six-spot Burnet is beautiful. I love this time of the year in the northeastern US when there are so many insects out pollinating the flowers. Some are quite plain, but others are amazing in color and various details. It was nice to see the Spoonbill especially flying. We had a rare visit from a Roseate Spoonbill recently which caused quite a stir among bird watchers. It was hanging out with Great Egrets and White Ibis. Such a great bill adaptation. Your Grey Heron is similar to our Great Blue Heron. Love this video so much!
Thank you, there are indeed many creatures that give me joy to observe. It's nice to be able to share it with the rest of the world. (or at least a few people 😊)
So beautiful and such detail in your video. We have Butternut Woollyworms -a type of sawfly-here in Coastal Delaware (US). They have white "fur" all over their bodies when they are in the larval stage. Thanks for sharing this amazing creature.
Sounds like a fascinating creature too! Thanks for watching!

Wow. Such a dramatic beginning with the fog and then the dew-covered dragonflies. It would be difficult to pick a favorite among your videos, but this one has to be among my top five! I love dragonflies and damselflies. Many people don't really pay attention to them and check out how different they are from each other. Your video shows such a great variety. The Small Spreadwing is so delicate. People often ask me why I get out so early in the morning, and all I'd have to do is show this video as an explanation. The lighting is perfect and helps you to see so much beauty. Thanks for another great video.
Thank you, it's also one of my own favourites. And you're most welcome of course to share the video with others 😉
We have the Variegated Fritillary here in the northeastern U.S. but they aren't quite as beautiful as this butterfly. The underside of the wings is striking. Although I've researched various wildlife species, I never realized that they shake and shiver before taking flight. So fascinating!
Yes, butterflies shiver their wings rapidly in an attempt to warm their muscles inside. Apparantly there is a minimum temperature before they are able to fly or crawl off the ground when they are too cold to fly. The Dutch name for this butterfly translates to Small Nacre butterfly, because of the silver- coloured spots.
Wow. Such a great find! I loved seeing all those downy feathers in the beginning. Young raptors are so cute when they are covered with those fluffy feathers. The parents sure have their "hands" full raising their young and keeping them fed. Thanks for another wonderful video.
Thank you, it was quite surprising that the nest was built so close to the walking path along the forest. Still, the sparrowhawks didn't seem to mind all the attention from passers-by. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Such a beautiful video! We have this butterfly in Delaware, U.S., too. I love the view when their wings cast a shadow on the leaf below. When I first encountered one of these butterflies, I thought the wings were ripped. They do look like a dead leaf when folded. Great description that you included. I'm so glad you took the time to record this. As a content creator, I especially enjoyed how you ended the video with the butterfly flying off.🥰
@@Wondering_About_NatureThanks for your comment, and yes, this butterfly was really eager to pose for my camera. I really enjoyed to film it on the leaves that seem to have the same kind of slape as the butterfly's wings.
How amazing ❤❤❤
Prachtig.!!

What a beauty! Never seen it before. Have just subscribed.
Thanks! And indeed it is a beautiful butterfly... 😊
Very beautiful video and very inspiring! Just started to try to photograph dragonflies in my finca. Can’t believe how steady your videos are even when you orbit around the dragonfly. A piece of art!
Thank you, so glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Apart from steadiness, another challenge while orbiting my subject of interest is to keep it in focus. These dew-sprinkled dragonflies are relatively easy to experiment with, because they won't fly away 😉
