With a rare weather window in December, the ocean was surprisingly calm enough to finally try a site that has been on "my list" for far too long! This dive site is called "Ule Pinnacle" by island residents, but was also known as "Never Never Land" by the liveaboard Kona Aggressor when it was operating around Kona (pre-Covid). This site features a towering pinnacle that rises out of the water and provides stunning scenery both above and below the surface. There is an incredibly deep canyon that runs offshore from the pinnacle and it's reported to frequently have schooling scalloped hammerhead sharks there. While we didn't see any during our inaugural dive there, the water was still warm for our "hammer season". When the colder, winter temperatures roll in, I am hoping there is another break in the weather so we can go back and keep looking for hammers!
