FORD TOURNEO COURIER review. Cancel your new SUV, this is BETTER!

Vans are becoming a strong competition to mid-size SUVs. Not only do they look great, which is the case with this Ford, but they offer more practicality, space and access to children in the back. Also, they have lower centre of gravity and drive through corners in many cases better than SUVs. This was my experience with NEW, IMPROVED, FORD TOURNEO COURIER. Music by: TH-cam Audio Library

I don’t think we need the music my friend. Just your own analysis 😄
Now this is a car I can definitely get behind as opposed to the Jogger. The Jogger is a good car for the money, very functional but cheaper parts mean less durable. I would certainly pay the more premium price for this Tourneo as it looks a better place to sit in. Also better to drive
The Dacia seems to be very basic but very functional and economical. What more do you need ?🤷🏼♂️ I have a suspicion that Dacia may creep into the more expensive market slowly and defeat their own purpose as being the no frills budget choice which people, who just want an A to B car,may find off putting. This happened with Kia and Hyundai who started off as the cheap choice for motorists not wanting to spend a lot of money. They eventually started getting more expensive and more luxurious as time went on. I know that a Sandero almost doubled in price because of the better equipment added. I personally wouldn’t buy a Dacia to be honest. Wow I didn’t realise Slovakia was so beautiful 🤩 👍🏼
That's right, unluckiky, it's the story as companies always want rising profits. Luckily there are still some new ones coming on.
The only problem for me.. Is the ecoboost.... I would prefer this car with a Toyota engine....
Purely from drivability point, I liked it, although I am aware of potential reliability issues of it.
Would you say the scala more comfortable than the new Fabia?
Indeed😊. Scala has comfy damping. Fabia has a more sporty one, even without Sports chassis option.
@upshifter Thanks for your speedy reply. 👍🏻
How would you compare this to the new toyota corolla sedan 1.5 tnga in terms of passenger comfort and reliabilty?
I have to be honest, I didn´t drive new or previous Corolla yet (I drove new Yaris and last gen of C-HR). But from what I saw, when I just looked at its conception, wheel geometry, I am of opinion, Corolla will be a more resolved car in corners. Skoda on the other hand will probably be better noise isolated on the motorway. Generally, I would take Japanese. So Corolla or Mazda3. :)
@upshifter Thank you for taking the time to reply! And thanks for your video, it has been just what I needed for the Scala experience through and through. I am more inclined towards the Corolla for the atmospheric engine albeit being 3 cylinder, but the Scala looks like it has better passenger comfort and noise isolation. If it was so easy to decide...
@aleksandarkostadinov3284 I think, take the Toyota. It will be more reliable and Japanese know how to do chassis as well. And if it's a Hybrid, the fuel consumption will be just Incredible!
For long trips, a charging curve is a very relevant info of any EV: It's how fast it charges (kW) vs how full the battery already is (percentage). Usually the lower the battery percentage, the faster you can charge. The range of the car is secondary as soon as you get into trip lengths of more than one battery charge. I hope 100kW is not the maximum charging speed of the car, because for 45k€ (which the all electric 308SW costs) you could instead get the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is also a great family vehicle and can charge with more than 200kW due to its 800V technology.
Yeah but also if Peugeot can take 100kW for longer time, in the end it can charge in the same time or close to as Ioniq5 with higher max but for very short time. From what I talked with Stelantis engineers, they are taking approach of saving battery from long term.
How is the Octavia RS plug in?
Unluckily didn't try yet. Maybe in the future! 😊 Could be interesting though.
Can you review the new Polestar 2 single motor long range? btw good videos!
I will try to make it happen next year. ;)
It’s a nice car, looks a nice place to sit. But I will never buy electric, they are a pain to own. The infrastructure is not there plus people become obsessive about constantly checking their range. And when you do charge it ? Always a queue in front of you. The manufacturers are beginning to realise this isn’t the way
Sure it is! I love current gen of PEUGEOT cars. I completely understand your reasonable opinion on why to not get one. From my point, I gotta say I like peacefulness of EVs on long travels, other than that, they can be a pain...
Unfortunately the rear seats suck.
You mean the too upward seating position? Seemed like a church pew. 😜😂
The real consumsion is 2.3L/100km witch is amazing again....
Excellent review 👏 🎉
Thank you! Very happy to help. This was one of my most favourite SUV ever so far.
What a total disregard for the road code … overtaking over an uninterrupted white line, speed limit breaking, notebook handling whilst driving and no lane keeping. Be a bit responsible when making these kind of videos. Being a motorcyclist you are one of my worst nightmares on the road and given the chance i would not hesitate making you lick the 80kW batterypoles.
Why u keep givin it 3rd? OH, your name is the UPshifter 😅😅
@@michaelgerrardtyson4197 Hahaha good one. 😎 Well at least I am not in the same gear and get more sensitive acceleration out of some off-camber corners. 😁
Juddery and uncomfortable!!!! I must have testdriven another car with the Australe sticker on it.
The damping is on the stiffer side yes, but the way of balance it goes through is quite comfy. The problem with these sort of cars is how high the driver is sitting and how short the wheelbase is compared to its height. It will never be as comfortable as a well resolved saloon type of car.
@@upshifter Comfortable in certain things and less in others, cars are always a compromise. I have spent a year driving my girlfriend's Suzuki Swift so the Austral will feel like a Maybach lol
@@RogerMorello-d8u In some aspects it will, in others Swift is KING. Like that happy lightweight feeling behind the wheel, throwing it into corners.😜😎
@@upshifter Yep bro, Swiftie will always be in my heart. And the good thing is it still remains in the family as the wife's car so win all round lol.
The B Pillar problem would be too off putting for me.Sure,it’s not much of an issue once you’re inside but knowing I’m going to have a problem getting in and out would play on my mind too much. A real pity as it looks a nice car, well equipped. And just watching you sit in it it looked a nice comfortable place to be
I understand. But it is possible to get over that, Alfa Giulia has the same problem, yet the driver's experience is such that I wouldn't mind. ;)
hey man loved ur analysis
Thanks mate, glad it informed you about what I feel were important new aspects of the car.🙌😊 Happy to help.
You don't have 122hp it's 109hp. Makes me question the accuracy of your information.
We already discussed in earlier comments.
Hi, with 2023 facelift hp´s increased from 109 to 122.
My Peugeot 208 GT Hybrid 136 will hopefully arrive at my dealer next week after a delay of over 10 weeks. I'm really looking forward to it! ❤️🚕 Thank you for the detailed review and your thoughts on the car. 👍🏼
Fantastic to hear! Enjoy your new car mate! Have fun and countless memories from behind the steering wheel!💙🔥
Has it arrived? I'm also waiting for my 208 GT Hybrid 136 and it was delayed as well. It should have arrived in the middle of September, now my car dealer said it's supposed to arrive in 2-3 weeks 🫠
@@kevink9884 I hope it arrives soon to you mate! So you can enjoy its fun to drive chassis. 😎🔥
@@kevink9884 Unfortunately, the car has still not arrived. The contract stated 01.08.2024, Peugeot then informed me of October 16. My dealer told me on Tuesday that the car should finally be on its way. Hopefully it will arrive by the end of next week. 🚘🫤
@@lionstarpictures8813 I wish you the best luck that it will arrive soon! My car dealer said something about a new model of the 208 being built, so maybe we´re getting a new revision of the 208 but I´m not sure about that.
As much as I think the Torres is a great option, this has the same engine so economically a better choice. And seems spacious enough for my needs anyway. I’m torn now 😄
Torres looks great and is spacious, but has rather bad fuel economy. This while for the class is still higher, but is overall more economical as it is smaller and more nimble and dynamic thanks to being lighter.😎
Good review. Its a nice looking car and in the main drives well. But I feel it sat too low for me and it feels in any driving mode to be a bit stiff. The piano type buttons were a pain too. Didn’t buy it
Thank you mate. Personally I always sit as low as it is possible. In case of piano buttons, I didn't mind them, but it is true that if they vere vertically positioned, it would be more comfortable to approach them. 😊
Another great review, pleasantly surprised at this car
Thank you! You know what is greatest about it? It's aerodynamics, 0.27Cd, plays a massive role in its everyday efficiency!🙌🔥 The best value in between this size of normal engined SUVs (not EV SUVs)
Can these sound warnings be turned off.
If I remember well, no. But I got accustomed to it.😏 It's so sad, being accustomed to overregulation.
Sure they can. One way is holding button on steering wheel (LIM for sign recognition for example) or via infotainment or permanently via OBD2
What a great review of an underrated brand. Definitely worth considering this car in the not too distant future. Thanks friend 🤘🏻
Certainly. Drives well on the road, looks tough and is really spacious. 🙌
I’m in between this exact trim and version of the Peugeot and the alfa Romeo junior hybrid speciale with the exact same engine
Peugeot is interesting, because it's both comfortable and fun to drive despite that bit of softness. Junior is small SUV, which means higher centre of gravity, together with shorter wheelbase. But I do believe in terms of suspension, Alfa Romeo engineers did a great job for driving fun and engagement as they always do. But Junior might have slightly worse fuel economy particularly because of worse drag coefficient than the Peugeot.
This car is not co-developed with VW (you mixed it up with other Tourneo models). It is produced in the factory in Romania, where Puma is also manufactured. With its base version it represents fantastic value... Approx same price range as Dacia Duster 1.2T... I should definitely test ride it 👍
Thank you. Definitely, I was really surprised by the car. Loved it. If I had a family and needed a practical car, I would go for it.
Good review except one thing - this car has nothing to do with VW Caddy. Caddy is a twin of Tourneo Connect. This Tourneo Courier is build on Ford Puma platform, thats the reason it drives so well.
Thanks mate, I didn't know this. Puma must be so much fun!💪😜
What a lovable small car!
The Japanese, has a skyactive 2.0 version, as a generator. It's ONLY sold in Japan. Seems like Mazda had some old rotary engines lying around, for the rest of us.
Really? From when I last looked at their site. It looked they also sell this REV, than they have 2.0 Petrol normal engine in the car and of course EV as well.
@@upshifter I tried copy/pasting a link to their site, but seems like it's not an option.
C'est un veau ce moteur..
It's good! I was so surprised, did like 1500km in it. And consumption was low also on motorway. No fear of not cooling down the turbo. My first car was Clio 3 16v. Predecessor of this we can say.
Une Clio est plus performante?
Yes it did have on paper, 78 hp. It might have been slightly better in acceleration.
Et qu'aurait donné avec une boîte 6 vitesses?
@@DouleurDollar Un peu plus de performance...
Keep up the good work :) nice and informative. 100% agree with how great value car like this is.
Thank you for this review, it help me making a choice
Does hybrid drops power above 100 kmph , becuse it depends on gas engine … gas turbo engines are better above 100kmph
Not really, it was happy to go even from 130. But of course it's not a powerhouse, still a normal car.
Am I the only one who is truly disappointed with the engine noise? To me it’s not understandable why Renault is putting an engine that is more noise than a Fiat500 in an car that for the rest feels like a upper class luxury vehicle. As for consumption: 6.6l/100km over a 5000 km test drive. Not bad for a big car , but less exceptional than I was expecting for the commercial documentation. But, if you can live with the noise , it is impressive.
@@stefanmagez8404 you are definitely not alone in that. But I drove the car in the sport mode, and in this mode, it isn't as intense as it doesn't have to charge the battery as much.
I just got full desert island blue one. 1.0 ecoboost manual Active. Really spacey and lots of visibility
That´s great, I actually thought I would prefer it more with Manual. Enjoy your car!👌
Nice sound
That's right! And 10 gears 😎
Here in België that car is 30000 €
At least some advantages here in the Eastern Europe then 😵😜
halogen lights nowadays are a big fail...
Depends on what you're looking for. From point of maintenance, it's not bad. Easy and Cheap to change.
That might be. Or are we spoiled?🥺😜
Its based on commercial car. If you crack full led light original part costs around 1000€, halogen light costs max 100€. But full leds should be at least an option. There will be some leds in time on secondary market for sure.
I have to agree with the Halogen lights downgrade as my 2019 Jeep has them and it’s not a budget car. They really are average nowadays.
Awesome vehicle 🚗
It's really great!👏
Why are you driving the car ridiculously fast on a local road?
What do you mean? I just accelerated for a small monent.
Cool! Now, I am curious how RWD version would handle this road?
If there will be RWD Available, I will try. It's a great car.
Nice job man , keep going
Thank you for your support mate, I will try. 💪
What is this Color ?
Platinum Quartz is the name
You can adjust the sports bar on the bed and the thing in the middle is not to hold yourself it’s to make it a even with the roof rag, that has fold out elements (left to right and other way round) mounted too
Thank you very much. I have yet no experience with transporting stuff on a pick-up truck and using it to full potential.
2:20 that sound was painful
Ahahahah yeah, 2nd gear was crunchy sometimes. It was harder to go in, and therefore sometimes I was too quick with the clutch.
In the US the camera side view mirrors are illegal and we must use mirrors. So even the "brick" design is more aerodynamic than what we can get.
That's interesting. So you have massive potentially dangerous freedom pick-up trucks on one hand, but on the other the law maker has for some reason problems with digital mirrors. 🤔
@@upshifter US regulation moves at the speed of a snail on a treadmill.
Is this Ioniq 6 you EV car of choice or would you rather take sth else?
It's a lovely car but having to put oil in it so often is an real pisser after all these years of development with the rotary engine. The car being so heavy is also a disappointment.
That's right. The problem is, it seems that it's impossible for rotary to run without eating so much oil. But for some reason, this car stayed in my heart. It's quirky, and has range even for long travels.
seriously? that's like eating ice cream for toyota hilux.
Unluckily, weather was shite for off-roading, 35 celsius and dry AF... So could not find anything really really that tough.... more will be in the review video.
@upshifter TBH, I won't buy that. 30 year old toyota landcruiser or Hilux would climb the everest without breaking a sweat. These new 4x4 pickup trucks are designed to carry crates of beer from supermarket to your door, they are made for asphalt and a bit of green laning. These are not made for proper offroading. I recommend you to try thennew hilux and see the difference. I am looking forward to sseing that.
Do you believe Hilux is this old school pick-up?
Well I haven't driven a Hilux yet. But I always considered Ranger to be on pair. At least on paper.
