This a rehearsal of my band the Posers who moved to Stoke Newington in 1980 from Hull and changed the bands name to The First Third. The band featured Paul Denman (Sade) on bass and vocals, me on drums and Alan Beadle on guitar. The band disbanded in 1981 and I got Paul Denman a job as the bass player in London band Pride and then Sade. The band never played any gigs in London and never wrote a...

Paul Cooke was the original drummer in the early London band Pride, also the Jazz 3-Piece PSP (Paul, Stuart and Paul) and then Sade, his style of drumming was based upon what he felt from the songs and the music the band played to him. Some of his orignal jazzy feel style he played in Sade can still can be heard on this channel and in some of the original songs that went onto Sade's first album...

I love the folk/rock aspects of this song and the dynamics involved in the arrangement that I created with Sharron.

    I was lucky to do Monitor Mix for the Band for several Canadian dates it was a pleasure to work them they were so efn tight and on the money. Definetly one of the Highs of my life, everyone was so Cool and friendly and polite had no idea of the tension, no one on the Tour caught any of the conflict. So sad to hear this, it was Magical on Stage every night. Thanks for the memories Paul, the Pleasure was all mine mate.

    It sounds like you were dumped on by the rest of the band but as an outsider I would guess they wouldnt have done that if you were better than the next guy. The Beatles famously did the same with Pete Best when they found his level of skill to be just enough below par that they decided to let him go. I cant imagine how he must have felt as the years went by and the band went on to achieve world wide success but he somehow managed to acclimatise to life without the Beatles. Your inability to let go even after 40 years must eat away at you and it cant be healthy for you. I feel for you mate but get on with your life and enjoy what's left of it. If your legal case were strong enough you would have been paid off years ago so it's unlikely to come to fruition anytime soon. Best of luck for the future.

      There's a bit around the 11 minute mark that makes it clear that Paul wasn't the right man for the job. He resisted the electronic involvement in the music instead of working along side it. When working in a band, you need to have an open mind and be flexible. The producer obviously knew what he was doing as the end result was a massive success. Clem Burke went through hell to get the Heart of Glass drum track right as he wrestled with the CR78 but finally got through it and, as a result, kept his job. Stephen Morris and Roger Taylor embraced drum machines instead of resisting them and contributed to some of the most iconic tracks in pop history. It was the 80s and sadly for drummers, something extra was required. That said, Sade and the other members could have handled the whole situation better and been more transparent to Paul.

      @@timharrison2076 We only have his word to say they weren't. I guess if any lawyer thought there was some mileage in getting this to court it would have been taken on as a no win-no fee case, as the end result, if he were to win, would potentially be a huge sum. The whole thing took place over 40 years ago and must be mentally draining for both Paul and his family. I think letting go would be the best option but he doesn't look like he will do that. On one hand I admire his tenacity but on the other I fear he is stuck in 1984 and won't let go.

      Thats absolute bullshit Pete Best was a far better drummer than Ringo, its a know fact Ring is a shit drummer and Bernard Purdie did a lot of the Beatles drums for him. If you listen to my podcast you might get a better insight and stop talking shite given you know shite in the first place as you wasnt there and basing all your facts on supposition? I guess you also don't know that Paul Denman didnt know any of the notes on his bass guitar when he recorded the first Sade album and kept his job. And still most probably doesnt know them now as he was self taught. You didnt know that as you didnt know him as I did and you wasnt there lol, you are an idiot period!

      @mrdeafa25 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PaulAnthonyCooke1 You sound like one angry man. I tried hard not to be rude to you but it is you that is talking shite mate. I actually did know Paul Denman,Alan Beedle and Alans cousin Martin who preceded you in The Posers very well and I know for a fact that Paul learnt double bass and bass guitar from an early age so I can only assume it is sour grapes that is making you say he didnt know his instrument. After all, you stated yourself he was a mate who stuck by you and even came to your wedding and you reciprocated by taking him to court! I cant see how you dont get that you were sacked from a job for incompetence over 40 years ago and you cant get past it. I doubt you were present when The Beatles were developing but you seem to know all the answers about Pete Best. Isn't that supposition? If you were as good as you seem to think you are how come you havent been snapped up by fellow admiring musicians at some point over the last forty years or so? PS I still have the tape from Hornsea Floral Hall and can confirm that Paul Denman's singing was as bad as your drumming.

    It is difficult to provide specific odds on being in a famous band in 1983 as it depends on various factors such as talent, dedication, opportunities, and luck. However, during that time, the chances of becoming a famous musician were generally quite competitive due to the ever-growing music industry. It typically required a combination of exceptional talent, hard work, marketing, networking, and being in the right place at the right time to achieve fame. Only a small percentage of aspiring musicians from that era became part of well-known bands. The chance of me being able to be in Sade in 1983 was 1 in 4,691,884,235... that is minus the other 3 members of the band

    The band’s literally her name. Paul, Stuart (and Andrew) knew that Sade is a Gem lyrically and vocally, so they would go along 35 years and counting with you being axed for which reason there ever were. Concerning the credits.. The song’s first drafts were rough man (i.e. Cherry pie) .. Sade mellowed them into magic. The credits are due, though
