      Not recommended, since you're adding something that isn't sterile to something that is sterile. Just like there's some contaminants that can survive alcohol, there are some that can survive peroxide, so it's best to just uncap your needles and use them straight away. As with a lot of things in life, they're fine until they're not. That's when the problems come up.

    Should I cut 2 slits into the top of the bag and mist after this, or should i wait for 100% colonization to cut the slits, or should I just not bother cutting the slits and leave the bag alone until the mushrooms start to grow?

    • @BoomingAcres
      @BoomingAcres หลายเดือนก่อน

      You would wait until 100% colonization before modifying the bag to fruit. We recommend not modifying your bag for at least 2 weeks after full colonization to see if fruits grow without modifications. Once you modify the bag you can't unmodify it, so that's why we recommend just letting things be for a bit to see if the variety you're growing is able to fruit in the internal conditions before moving onto another fruiting method.

    Hey guys, do you recommend using in a still air box after innoculation for with these all in ones, as opposed to just setting it in my 72f shelf in the closet w/ the light off and leave it alone for 2 weeks? My research shows that SABs signifcantly help, but it’s usually in reference to other methods and not these sealed pre sterilized aios. It also can apparently introduce contaminant factors if not properly handled. I’m just trying to understand if there’s really much difference in this particular scenario. Thanks guys, I look forward to the start of my passion project. And I really appreciate you guys saving me the 45 minute drive and shipping out my order. I’m sure I’ll end up stopping by anyway when I need more 🙌❤️

    • @BoomingAcres
      @BoomingAcres หลายเดือนก่อน

      With the bag being a sealed container itself, it's not necessary to keep it inside of another box if the conditions in your closet are fairly clean and the temperature is appropriate. A SAB is not going to have cleaner air than your closet if it's also sitting in your closet, it's not a sterile air box, it's a still air box and just helpful for reducing contamination when working with cultures or inoculations. Good luck with the project, if you ever want to come by for a visit let us know!

    But, if you let it cool off in open air....again, that can contaminate the needle right??? What about flame, then wipe with new, sterile alcohol pad???

    • @BoomingAcres
      @BoomingAcres หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you're working in a space with little to no air flow, once you flame sterilize the needle there won't be mold spores or bacteria flying around. It's best practice to not touch things that are sterile with something that might be, so even if using a new alcohol pad it's best not to touch the needle with anything. Some mold spores (namely trichoderma) are not effected by alcohol, so if there's some in the factory environment where the pads are being made, if they're in the packaging they can get onto the needle.

    • @BoomingAcres
      @BoomingAcres หลายเดือนก่อน

      A few percent is going to be something that's different from one batch to the next, as well as a factor involving conditions and the field grown in, and obviously the genetics being used. I know from using water from the cooks the agar made with popcorn vs feed corn the feed corn agar always grew notably faster than the popcorn water, also the feed corn is more sweet when checking if it's done vs popcorn. I'm sure when they're making high fructose corn syrup they're using popcorn though for those couple extra percentage points of carbs! A quick google 'field corn carbohydrates' brings up a result stating a half cup of field corn has 15g carbohydrates, 'sweet corn carbohydrate' brings up a full cup is 29g carbohydrates.

ALTHOUGH I BOUGHT COW MANURE AND COMPOST AND IM GOING TO USE IT AS MY SUBSTRATE... I JUST WANT A 100 PERCENT HONEST ANSWER "CAN I USE JUST COW MANURE AND COMPOST? LMK

      That's great to hear! If you're growing on manure and compost, you're going to need to look up a guide on how to correctly process it for substrate or your project will fail. Using actual manure and compost has a lot of downsides especially for a new grower, the methodology for processing it for mushroom substrate can be confusing and has a lot of variables. That's one of the reasons we recommend just buying our premade materials, it takes out a lot of the variables, guess work, and risks. We know we do everything right and we do this stuff every day so using our products the whole way through your first few projects will help you get some success under your belt and get some understanding of how things work before making things all yourself. Hope that helps!

      @@BoomingAcres so what product would you recommend to add my 3 lb bag of millet to? And do I have time?
