How to get a good honey crop with your nuc in it's first season in the North East!
มุมมอง 393ปีที่แล้ว
Are you expecting to get a good honey crop with your new nuc in the North East? You should be! Here is a better way to grow a colony and get a good honey crop from your nuc in the first season. Watch and see how simple this is. ( I apologize for the very poor sound quality!!! I will redo this)
Bear Respects Electric Bee Fence but Hopes for Honey Stung Chicken. The Fowl Bearly Escape!
มุมมอง 7592 ปีที่แล้ว
While working on the Backhoe, I video a Black Bear who's Ambivelent about tackling the Chickens and Turkeys. After a few charges, I got off the tractor and snuck up on him while keeping my distance and persuaded him that Honey Stung Chicken or Turkey was not on the menue that night!
An interview with Luke at Cedar Ridge Farm in Blairstown. Watch us get photo-bombed by three lambs!

This hive wintered with 7 frames instead of eight because I forgot to come back with and extra frame. The bees fixed that.

Wait! Attract Black Bears to the BeeYard Fence!?
มุมมอง 3692 ปีที่แล้ว
Black bears are a constant threat to Bee Hives in the States they inhabit. Fence baiting sounds counter intuitive but is a must do harmless technique that trains them to get a jolt and get dinner somewhere else.
SHOCKING HONEY BEE VIDEO! Watch them Electrostatically Collect Pollen!
มุมมอง 5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
It was warm enough for some of the girls to leave the hive and forage. I put out some Pollen Substiture for them and they couldn't be happier!
What is Honey before it's Honey?
มุมมอง 5602 ปีที่แล้ว
Unlike money, Honey does grow on trees! But, the Bees dont collect Honey, they gather Flower Nectar which will turn to vinegar quickly due to it's high moisture content. The Bees convert and dehydrate the Nectar to prevent spoilage!

Just looking at the group I would have started with a 10 frame deep first off!

I have this crazy thought that a lot of swarms recognise boxes because they came from one before, so presnt them with an empty hive box, they see a new house.

I'm pretty confident the queen is already inside the box. That's the only way to get all the workers even convinced that's the direction go go, I would think. Congratulations on saving these bees. 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝❤❤❤❤❤

Im going to carry a swarm box with me all next spring. I missed out on 2 swarms this spring. I was right in the middle of one of them while they were flying in! What an experience!!! Totally hooked now. Have picked up a couple starter 10 frame langstroth setups and am prepping a bee yard on my property. Gonna have a nice bee home by spring.

Correction, remove the medium brood super in July, 21 days after moving to the top and allowing for the brood hatch. Let the bees rob the honey out then keep it safe and reinstall it when the fall nectar flow begins and after removing any mite treatments that should not be used during a nectar flow. .

A few times over the years, I have seen large swarms like that having more than one queen. The most I ever saw was four in one huge cluster - there might have been even more in it that I missed. I captured the extra queens in clips before they got balled and used them to make splits.
