Fundraiser for Kumu Siaosi Veimau, performance by Academy of Hawaiian Arts, chanted by Mark Keali'I Ho'omalu
This halau always gives me chicken skin
For some reason, i never can understand ''dancing'' no matter what kind it is, whenever i watch it. I get really confused and wonder why people do it lol.....I just don't understand it and i never feel it ''in my soul'' or anything. To me it seems to alien and my brain can't process it. Wonder what is wrong with me. I feel like i am an alien who landed and is watching other aliens do something that i am trying to figure out. Lol
Maika’i! Love you Mark! You take hula to an amazing level!
I was one of the cameramen at the 2024 Merrie Monarch Festival in Hilo. His performance was dynamic, his ladies preformed to perfection. Personally, he should have at least placed. Mark brings the art of hula into the 21st century. Brilliant choreography.

Iaorana from TAHITI super nice🇵🇫🙌🙏🤙🏼
Superior!!! The last of the true legacy of Grand Kumu Hula!! EO Kumu!! Mahalo for blessing us with your immeasurable passion for our culture and love of our koko!!🥰
Awesome
Do you know the name of this particular hula?
I don't really have any idea how I got into Hawaii and its culture and language, but I'm absolutely loving to learn and find out more. And I totally got into Mark and his chants - what a great video, loving it!
Welcome to the club 🤣 i googled what an haka is 4 years ago. No regrets 💕

Its nice to see people interested in hula. If you are going to perform publicly please familiarize yourself with our motions as hula is telling a story via motions. You are very graceful & have the potential of being a good dancer.
Amazing watching three hālaus dance to the same song with their own iterations of hula 🔥🔥
Love this
Больше всего смотрел на пузана по середине))
a thoroughly enjoy the chants and dances with mark keali''l, but i wished all the recordings werent destroyed by the dispicable shouting of chicks through song and danc..is incredible annoying..its an american custom which better be left out of the terrible noises!! it makes any recording totally useless!! and yes julia records it, and i gater her screams are the nearest,...wished them gone..
Yessahhh!🙌🙌 20 Haters need cracks👊
The men dancing reminds me of WW2 Japanese pilot Nishikaichi who crash landed on Niihau.. "Nishikaichi fired his pistol at Ben Kanahele, striking him in the chest, hip, and groin. But the agitated Ben Kanahele a burly man charged on. “Then I got mad,’’ he later told a newspaper. “I picked up the flier and threw him against the stone wall and knocked him cold.’’ Lesson: Dont piss off a Hawaiian. More of this story: timeline.com/this-japanese-wwii-fighter-pilot-thought-he-crash-landed-on-a-deserted-hawaiian-island-wrong-635d898b08d0 Mahalo Julia Mitchell for sharing I loved the performers and Mark immensely!!

Na hana nui a Maui
I am a Samoan, but this Mark Hoomalu, is one of the best Kumu in my Books
The best 💯💯💯
I like the popolo boys energy, the one in the front row on the left!! It's nice to see other people like that appreciate our culture and not act like it's a joke but still have fun with it all the same time!!!🤙🏾🤙🏾
Where/how did he learn to dance like that? So beautiful!
They are more like dark skinned Samoans I have an uncle that looks popolo but his name is felise 💀
I swear Everytime!! Mark knows how for bring life to the stage especially during Merrie monarch
Yessuh boys!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
I see kauiki everyday and I don't know this Haka, pua thing me,but I am a protector of the aina of kauiki and its surroundings.Mauka to Makai, keanae to kaupo.
As a "Protector" of the 'aina, u should know we don't have "haka's" Not in Hawai'i, we have Oli's (chants) or if u wanna thinks of it another way Kahiko's
Hope to see Mark and AHA back at Merrie Monarch

I love that each halau present in this video doesn’t have the same movements but they all still create such a beautiful rendition of this hula. Hawaiians United. Sharing beauty, history, and culture to all who wish to see 🤙🏽
Chicken skin!!!!
I'm not Hawaiian, but I think Mark is the greatest chanter. I could listen to him all day. And, sometimes, I do.
