Radha Rani Mandir
The Radha Rani Mandir is situated on a hill, approximately 250 meters high. The history of this temple is quite fascinating, and many religious stories are associated with it. This hill is known as Barsana ka Matha (head of Barsana). The Radha Rani Mandir is also known as 'Barsane Ki Ladli Ka Mandir' (temple of Barsana's beloved) and 'Radha Rani Ka Mahal' (palace of Radha Rani).
The temple is made of red sandstone and is decorated with intricate hand carvings, beautiful arches, domes, and exquisite paintings on its inner walls and ceilings. The red and white stones of the temple are believed to symbolize the love of Radha and Krishna.
There are more than 200 steps that lead from the ground to the main temple. At the foot of the stairs leading to this temple is the palace of Vrishbhanu Maharaj, where the idols of Vrishbhanu Maharaj, Kirtida (Radha's mother), Sridhama (Radha's sister), and Shri Radhika are enshrined. A temple dedicated to Lord Brahma is also located near this palace.
The main festivals of the temple are Radhastami and Krishna Janmashtami, the birthdays of Radha and Krishna respectively. On both these days, the temple is decorated with flowers and lights. The deities are adorned with new clothes and jewelry. After the aarti, 56 types of delicacies, also known as "Chhappan Bhog", are offered.
Kirti Mandir
Kirti Mandir is a unique monument that highlights the selfless and unwavering devotion of Shri Radha Rani. It glorifies the loving sentiment of Kirti Maiyya's maternal affection, who was very fortunate to be Radha Rani's mother.
The foundation stone of Kirti Mandir was laid by Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj in the year 2006. The dome of the temple has 25 gold kalashas (pots). The construction of this temple was done by 500 laborers in 12 years. Italian marble is installed on the roof of the temple.
Kirti Mandir is a special temple in Barsana that is dedicated to Goddess Radha and her mother. While you will find many temples of Radha Rani in Braj, Kirti Mandir near रंगीली महल (Rangi Mahal) attracts people for many reasons. The temple is named after Kirti Devi, the mother of Radha Rani. Kirti Mandir is the only temple in the world where Radha Rani is depicted sleeping in her mother's lap. On both sides of the door of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, the eight sakhis (companions) are seen gazing at Ladliji (Radha Rani).
