One disadvantage of the Beretta PX4 Storm is that it has terrible grips. The grips are very slippery. I wanted to buy a rubberized grip to help with slippage. I found the Pachmayr PX4 Storm grips online for only $10.00. One of the reasons I bought this particular grip is that it has finger grooves. No need to take it apart! just leave it locked open, and use a toothbrush on that open breech face and also on the bolt that will close on it. a couple brush strokes is all it takes to clean it up and you are back in business. If it still fails to fire, then its a firing pin or spring issue.

    I’m skeptical that this level of manufacturing tolerance will have any effect on the utility of the item being produced. Meaning, AFAIK, the use case for .380 ammo is in a small, concealed pistol that will be used at 10 yards at the most. Aside from the fact that most gun owners couldn’t reliably hit a barn with a shotgun at one yard due to lack of practice, we’re certainly not doing any long range competitions using .380. Maybe you use your .380 ammunition in a way where this level of precision matters, but if you do, you’re doing something that less than 1% of .380 owners do.

    • @MealsandMunitions

      I get that the effect may be minimal. An extra step is needed that causes me to spend more time - Belling the shell. Seat with a Lee die. The RCBS die I was using messes it up because of the way the RCBS crimp process creates friction and forces scratching.

      @MealsandMunitions 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s true. That’s a whole other story and it’s not about cost savings on that side of the spectrum. I mean, people spend thousands and thousands on upgrades, alone, to make their rifles as accurate as possible. Then you spend more on the ammo side. Match bullets, Starline cases, match dies, annealing time and tools, accurate powder measurers, ogive measuring and tools, case tools, spotting scope, research and time on calculations (ballistics moa mil etc) and various more tools.

    Labour rate is very important to many of us. People that refuse to acknowledge the time investment are free to do so, and are not wrong, they value things differently. That's okay. Many calibers I can't afford to reload. Some I can, some I must and some I choose to anyway. There is far more cost in a round than the sum of the individual components. The reloaders that insist time, space, energy, capital equipment, maintenance, infrastructure, depreciation, opportunity costs etc are not valid inputs to the calculus annoy me, because they are often doing it to support their bias, not because it's factual. To those that do it because they want to do it, well I respect that.

      Someone commented, on this video, about bench shooting. I started thinking about the whole process to reload 6.5 creedmoor and how labor intensive it is. I'll answer for @alhorn2664 in case he can't be bothered. You make it blatantly obvious you have no generalized of firearms. 22LR is notoriously dirty to fire. Its also varies a lot in quality. Shooting cheap plinking ammo (yeah, we can see the cheapest bulk ammo on the table) is probably the dirtiest of them all next to black powder. To blame the GUN for this is ludicrous. Second, the Buckmark is easy to take down. Not that this is necessary to clean it! Third, was that a LIVE round I saw you eject? Holy tragedy, Batman. You can't even see that an angled magazine has to be inserted IN LINE with the grip. You can jam any magazine in any gun into the back of the grip frame if you try, its just that normal humans with an IQ above 80 know not to do that. Oh, and to blame problems of a 22LR on being a BLOWBACK design...well, what can I say. If its an automatic pistol it will ALWAYS be a blowback. I could go on, but I'm bored now. I'm off to buy a Buckmark.

    • @MealsandMunitions
      @MealsandMunitions 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi. First, thanks for watching! I will thumbs up you because you seem to have watched the whole video, based on your comments. I appreciate it. It’s true that 22LR is very dirty. I like buying the cheapest ammo and test it for reliability. I did a video on the Aguila Super Extra 40 grain with my LCRx revolver months ago - you should check it out. 750 rounds no cleaning. Not one failed to fire. The Aguila on the table has not failed with my LCRx. So in my experience, this buckmark has not met my expectations. It could be that it’s particular to just this gun. Maybe there are a lot of buckmarks out there that can do 750/750 without cleaning. In my case, I blame the gun. Take down: compare it to a Ruger mark iv. They were blue dummy rounds, you’ll see the other dummy rounds on the top right screen. Magazine angle: it’s a personal preference, but I do see why it’s angled. Good luck on your gun purchase!

    When you get the bug, you end up with thousands in equipment. Then there’s the square footage of living space dedicated to making. Don’t forget consumables like lubes, cleaners, and tumbling media, just to name a few. It’s FAR more costly to get started reloading, but if you stay in it and find a good source of free brass, maybe find other reloaders to do group bulk buys of bullets, primer, and powder, you start to get closer to an ROI. Regardless of cost, I’d rather load ammo at home than work a second job to be able to buy more expensive ammo.

      Hi, thanks for watching! Sometimes I pick up my brass, sometimes I don't. For simplicity, I included the cost. I, personally, factor in labor rate to get the whole cost. Here's a scenario: I go to my Free State vacation home and make ammo there. I decide to sell it to a couple of buddies of mine in that Free State. Do I factor in labor rate in that sale price or not? Where I'm getting at is that there are individual reasons to include or not include labor into your calculation.

      Looks like PX4 isn’t anywhere near SP-01 in recoil, but surely it’s a lot lighter than SP-01. I have SP-01 but looking for a polymer that’s not Glock, looking at PX4 and P2000, and yeah dammit California

      I was out at the range this weekend and, believe me, the recoil between the two is negligible. The PX4 is much lighter to carry. I haven't shot the P2000 yet.
