The root solution is to leverage emotional intelligence to navigate the emotions that may be diminishing their cognitive abilities and bandwidth.

Steve, I enjoyed this very much and got a lot out of it. Two thoughts regarding how some clients and prospects who understand what we do and yet don't engage our services: 1. In these challenging times with so much uncertainty and elevated chronic stress, confidence and trust goes in the opposite direction. That means less confidence/trust in themselves, their decision-making (and more) as well as hesitation in putting their trust in us, especially when it means investing precious $$. 2. *Sometimes* it's a cue for us to ask ourselves if we've done an effective job of illustrating our value. As I've been writing this and listening to you, you're now echoing these very thoughts. Thank you for this video "conversation." Cheers!

Rick, always great to hear from you. Your words ring true! As the pace of change increases, the pace of trust struggles to keep up. Yes, that does start with self trust, good observation! It is difficult to express the value we bring to individuals and organizations. Having said that, I just completed two very important documents. One is the Habit Story eBook, that shares the value and ROI of measuring habits and their impact to facilitate habit transformation. Here is the link for this free eBook: www.eqfit.org/pl/2148297150 The second is a prospectus I finished a first draft of today related to our soon to be released *LifeThrive Leadership Program* , a joint venture with Dr. Chuck Coker at LifeThrive. I will be making that available very soon. I did it in prospectus form because investing in leadership development is an investment...and an investment that pays dividends over a lifetime when leaders grow their capacity and skills. Thanks for your insight, Rick. Always appreciated!!

I was so hoping you would share this segment of our conversation, Steve. It's an encouraging reminder at a time when so many people...indeed most of us...are experiencing the pain of chronic stress, change exhaustion, uncertainty and more, which includes to one degree or another emotional exhaustion. In the mix of all of that, the confidence emotion can and will take hits. And therefore, promoting conversations about it, and encouraging individuals and teams to strengthen their emotional intelligence are some of the keys to transforming this. Thank you!

Thank you, Steve. P.S. There are ways to gain "buy-in" and boost engagement by being strategic in the way you and I introduce new changes to teams and entire organizations. As you consider this quote, the strategies I found that produce the best results are those that inspire people to adapt because "they want to"... "You can't build an adaptable organization without adaptable people--and individuals change only when they have to, or when they want to." - Gary Hamel

Steve, thank you, and you make such a good point. It came up in a leadership group again this morning, as it often does (like weekly or even more so): self care, well-being is our responsibility. Extending grace to yourself - the same grace we can be quick to extend to others - can at once seem both a foreign idea as well as "Oh, this is just what I need." Each of us need it, deserve it, and would enjoy an elevated level of wellness if we did it more often.
