I had the same issue. Removed the o-ring. Worked great for 2 months.... then the push button would not turn off again. Almost feels like the spring that pushes the button back up is getting too much friction internally or the spring has weaken... open to other ideas....

HUGE Help! I removed my button the recommended way, but then just cleaned it up and reinstalled. Works like a charm even with the O-Ring still installed.

Three years after posting and you are still saving people $$$, time, hassle, and backaches/neck aches for the DIYers who would have otherwise purchased a new insta-hot system and replaced the leaking one! Thank you (and Gary/OP) for saving me all of the above!

I have to imagine that everyone that buys these Insinkerator hot water spigots encounters this same issue. What a pain! (if you don't know this tip!) Bummer that the company hasn't taken more pride in updating their products to address issues like this.

Likely the drain line at the bottom rear of fridge is clogged. There is no place for the defrosted ice to go.

Great post, Todd. The ol' "sticky button" on our In Sink Erator was one of those things that I just couldn't move up the "to figure out" list, until I stumbled on your video. Brilliant! No more feeling of dread before getting a cup of hot water! Thank you.

Attention Samsung junk owners, There was a class-action suit that was brought against Samsung refrigerator ice maker problems. Samsung denied any malfeasance on their part but, after waiting several years, they repaired my ice maker issues. They replaced the main circuit board plus all the interior freezer parts. My Samsung ice maker problem has been rectified at their expense and since the repair, My ice maker has been trouble-free. The rest of the refrigerator worked just fine except I couldn't use the ice dispenser for years. You know Samsung could have just fixed the problem quietly but chose to have themselves publicly criticized and forced to atone for a problem that plagued the French door/freezer bottom refrigerators. The defrost method while functional, did not remedy the icemaker issues because the build-up was severe enough to negate using the defroster which is kept a secret from customers.

Thanks so much! I called Insinkerator about this and their fix was to buy a new faucet....wish I had know earlier about this fix, as it has gotten stuck a few times and as a result, I have scratched my button a little. Oh well, better than spending $$ to replace.

Solved my problem as well! Used lubricant instead of removing the o ring, so we will see if that is a lasting solution

I've seen another video were after they defrosted the ice make they used insulation tape to seal the edges of the unit. This should stop the warm air from entering the unit. Its simply a design flaw.

Just be careful that button is plastic and you’ll scratch it all up if you don’t get it out easily

I can't even get the drawer to come out. I ran 4 consecutive defrost cycles & it's still locked up. Any thoughts...?

I use a steam machine from harbor freight and I can defrost mine in about 10 minutes without any beeping.

The very first sign of this in our Samsung was the ice chute freezing up, no ice would come out. The repaiman told us to pour really hot water through the chute and it clears it up. We did. It did. In our fridge, anyway, once we stop it at this level it gets no further. It first happened 4 months affer we bought the fridge, which was two yeafs ago now. No recurrence yet

my ice maker is on the door, does the defrost work the same way?

Or you can call SS and they will repair the unit no charge. The class action suit is over, they lost. Yea I thought it was not true either. My ice maker kept jamming and freezing. Called SS done, no charge.

I also used a hair dryer to melt the ice.

There is a flaw design with these. There are some gaps inside the Ice Maker that allow air in which forms condensation which freezes up the whole Ice Maker.

I uses a small hair dryer and be done in ten minutes.

You've made me and my wife happy! This video is the best one out there for this issue. Samsung should be paying you a commission. You made such a professional video which gave us confidence in not only trying to fix the problem but we fixed it in two tries. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

How do you turn that plug icon off. My freezer is not that cold
