Kiitos Jussi, thanks for uploading this video. Dmitri Hvorostovski's interviews seem to be rare. Which can't be the case. They are probably not just online
I attended this memorable performance. Rowland was fabulous, especially when one considers she was a last minute substitute for Mara Zampieri. De la Mora and Chernov were also excellent.
Are you related to Lois K.?
Pictures do not match the songs.
No, they weren't intended to. Too complicated to do that! 🙄
Senza voce poco fa …. 🥲 il vecchio
I LIVED for art. Correctly.
It's very disconcerting to listen to such a good Tenor called Franco Farina, only to hear such poor Italian diction and pronunciation, typical of native English speakers. Deceptive name.
I just don't' understand how this lady didn't receive the same (or even more) acclaim as the "other" Beverly (mad respect to her, even so!).
Magnificent… Just wish she had made many more recordings. This is a stellar voice and should have been more famous than she was.
*I have been searching for this interview since I first heard it in the late 80's. Thank you, thank you!*
Teresa - sheer beauty!❤❤❤
As a teenager, I saw Mr. Deis sing in an opera in Asbury Park, NJ. This was in the 1960s.

.....certo se le togliamo il microfono praticamente è un sussurro😅 Già quest'aria è lunghissima se poi la canti così alla fine ti alzi e te ne vai, non arrivi alla fine dell'opera.
Heavenly opera voice love ❤️ this man from god I listen every day to Mr magic, love him,, beautiful man,❤️🎹♥️🎹🥰🎶🎶🎸
Lorna Haywood!!! WOW!!!!! Fabulous.
This is one of the most beautiful voices I have heard in decades ~ in fact, since I first heard Renee Flemming onstage as a super in San Francisco Opera's "Herodiade!" in the early 1990s! 💌💌💌
Years later, Ying in this role, moves me like no other. Always, for me, a very emotional opera, she took me to a completely different appreciation of this tragedy. Every time, I will Pinkerton to arrive 5 minutes early, and he and Kate to do the right thing. He seems genuine in this version, later. (though in reality, in those times, perhaps not practical?)
Eva Turner the greatest Turandot!
America doesn't appreciate us but we have options.
I have most of Elliott’s memorabilia in boxes. I have his costumes and even that wig that he is wearing in this photo. Let me know if you’re interested.
Thanks, but I'm not a collector of such things. Maybe the Wagner Society would be interested? Or offer it on Parterre or other on-line opera forums?
35:03 emperor name please?

Thank you. Listening from Alaska. 🕊 Worked with Tim Nobel in the 70s. His voice is unmistakable. Would like to see video.
Amazing talent.❤
No regards for his safety .
Cannot find this cd ANYWHERE...... So I keep returning here to savor one of the most beautiful lyric tenor voices of the century. Bravo Jaume!
Thank you for uploading this treasure. Great singing mistro.
Thank you for posting this! I was able to hear her in the flesh a couple of times, in Minneapolis. She sang beautifully. It was a small voice, but it carried well, even at pianissimo.
I was there. She was terrific as was her Inez, Meredith Mizell.
I saw one of his ˋdramatized´ recitals when I was a student in college years before I ever had my extensive contact with him. This would have been during the winter of 1970 near Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. Hines superb instrument did go through a couple rough periods, as he attested to me himself, however he worked through these slump periods successfully & the last time I visited him was in 1993 when he was singing a role in Amsterdam. I was not able to see or hear him there (I think his role was in LE WALLY), but my memory may be incorrect. In the 1970 recital he was not in top form (a slump period perhaps) & I found his presentation with costumes a bit ostentatious which his uneven singing, on this occasion, failed to compensate for. Later I never mentioned this to him & he had many more years of satisfying singing ahead of him. When working with his OMTI program I had the chance, with 2 other singers, to do a recital tour & this was as late as 1988 & Jerry Hines was pleased to see that the recital business was not completely moribund by this time. A very interesting man as this interview here demonstrates & his kindness, constructive criticism & encouragement meant much to me.
This is the voice that excites like no other! Edie was born with this depth of passion and emotional range that suits the sheer beauty and dramatic intensity of her singing voice and radiant personality. I'm guessing the pianist might be Betsy Mullin or Sissy Baker, or maybe John Craig - all the best accompanists at U of L School of Music at the time.
Not John Craig. Possibly Doris Keyes.
Edie thinks it is possibly Doris Keyes
I would love it if as in the last half of the 20th century, voices were instantly recognizable singular and distinct. These women and Tebaldi, Del Monaco, Corelli, etc, etc, etc were instantly recognizable. WHAT HAPPENED!?
Wow this is amazing. Just love to hear him sing. He is The Voice.
He is not an operatic sensation. He never was and he never will be. He has a nice voice for popular music.
1976 the best year for Pavarotti imo

@@JussiTTvanVickTheOperaAddict just a personal reminder for me.
@@JussiTTvanVickTheOperaAddict It's the end of Das ist ein Flöten und Geigen.
I was at a recital in Philadelphia with Dame Kiri and pianist Warren Jones. When the final note faded away we sat in silence almost two full minutes before Kiri took a couple of steps to move the recital along. Pure silence, no coughs, whispers. Not a sound. Only on this piece. It happened again some years later but I can not remember where it was.
How is there not more DVD’s and cd’s of this Deutekom’ singing. She’s amazing!
The best Chérubino of the 20 st century. With Solti and Böhm and Strehler, she performed so amazing performance!
Best Archbishop we had
Thank you for sharing this!!!! What a gift!
