I’m only here because a guy commenter was going nuts trying to remember the name of this story that he kept falling asleep to. He couldn’t find it anywhere. A reply gave the name with Benedict as the narrator. So here I am! 🤣

16:28 But Holmes would have known the journalist Cartwright would have rushed over to Baker St. after reading the Gazette story and Watson (like an idiot) would have talked to him. Unless it was part of Holmes plan which is revealed later on - that’s a pretty big gaff. “A miscalculation on my part.” Hmph! Yup. Too fantastic that Holmes wouldn’t have anticipated Watson’s every predictable move. Extroverts see being cooped up alone as a punishment.

I think this is a ridiculous story. But if you like Agatha Christie you may find it fun.

Paul Frees has been a voice legend to me since his fine Rocky & Bullwinkle and Friends work in the 1960s… right along with William Conrad. The young voice sounds like Donna Douglas (Ellie Mae Clampett).

Twist for the sake of a twist. The motivation for such a horrible crime is nowhere to be seen. The disowned nephew and presumably only living heir makes more sense, possibly in conjunction with the disagreeable housekeeper. Just a muddle imo.

While I enjoyed this I found that background “old record scratching” sound really difficult on my ears. I had to stop and start many times just to give my ears a rest. Is it possible to remove that from the recording?
