Folding Pocket Knife - Mosaic Damascus Lock Back Folder
what a beautyfull knife i ove these kind of work
All that precision, and a feather pattern! Gorgeous!!
Intrigued. Subscribing and checking out the full video if it's up.
These are gorgeous!!!!
Impressive and beautiful mammoth tooth handle on that lockback!
Very cool feather pattern and to paraphrase the Joker (Batman 1989) "Where do you get all those wonderful toys!!" You've gone from stingray leather to mammoth molar! Impressive. Enjoyed the walk through as usual and look forward to the next build!
Thanks Terry
Hello sir, I am interested in purchasing a knife like the one I made in this video, and I want to buy one. How much does it cost? Greetings.
Best DIY design I've seen yet !! I am wanting to follow your lead and copy your design for myself !! can you tell me what size dies you are using ? I'm also wondering how wide of a billet you normally do with your press ? would you be willing to give with and depth dimensions ? I know you state approximately 2"between 2x2 supports how wide is that ? I'm think 12-16' wide ?? such a nice design I appreciate you sharing it with everyone !!!
Thanks for the feedback. The dies are built on 1/4" thick, 3"x6" plate steel. The flat die in the video is 1" thick by 2"x4" and welded to the 3x6 plate. All of my dies are built on this size plate. My typical billet size is 1.5" wide and anywhere from 4 to 8 inches in length depending on what I am making at the time. I usually use 1.5" wide billets so I can pass it between the uprights on the side when setting my initial forge welds. The overall width of the press frame is 12 inches. The top and bottom plates are 1" thick, by 6' x 12". I used the same size for the cross member at the top where the cylinder attaches, and for the cross member with the die attachments at the end of the ram. The large cross member on the bottom that holds the bottom die is 2" thick by 6" x 12". If you look at the pictures at the end of video you can see how I put the press together. Hope that helps.
Wow. Work of art.
Extremely nice. I like fighter designs
Really liked the stingray leather - I think it really compliments the knife. A very out of the box idea. Is the stingray leather harder/different to work compared to cowhide leather? Enjoyed the video - good job sir!
The stingray hide is covered in scales that are made of detin and covered with enamel like what's on a tooth. They are very hard and round in shape and are sometimes called "pearls". The skin I used has been sanded and polished smooth, which is why it looks like white dots all over it. Its very tough to cut but very flexible at the same time.
@@MichaelJonesCustomKnives Very cool - I've never seen stingray leather but it looks awesome and compliments the knife very well. Exellent combination!
Good to hear the backstory of the steel and that it has a new life.
Very nice - well done
Are these available to purchase in your store ? These are gorgeous.
This is incredible! They are beautiful
what is your cost of parts ?
Dan - I answered a similar question about cost to build this press in the comments below. Please look at @keithmarshall62 question in the comments and my reply. Thanks
Você está de parabéns, excelente trabalho. Servirá de inspiração para fabricação da minha prensa para cutelaria. (Congratulations, excellent work. It will serve as inspiration for making my hydraulic press for cutlery.)
How were the dimensions calculated? Is there some official source for this information, or is it a product of estimation by skilled and experienced hands? Either way, this is top shelf work.
I calculated the size of the daggers by using the screen capture of Austin Butler's hand over the white dagger from the preview. If you look in the video at the 0:55 timestamp I show a screen shot. I measured the width across my own hand and then took that measurement and enlarged the screen shot until I had the same measurement for Austin's right hand. This gave me an approximate size for the overall length and width for each dagger. This is probably not an exact match in the width of my hand compared to Austin's but its close enough. I have not seen any official measurements online for the dagger props that were used in making the film.
@@MichaelJonesCustomKnives As I said before, it is a simply phenomenal job you did, there. I would also dare say that with the strength imbued within the forgings, that these could actually be used in arena combat, whereas the movie props would likely indeed "chip and shatter".
They look like they came straight off the screen! Beautiful work!
Proud of you son!!
Very cool...

That is so awesome! Going to watch the movie Sat with my sons and grandson in IMAX. Read the complete series ages ago. Didn't know you were a fan ??
Yeah I have been a fan since the 1984 movie came out. Be sure to check out the full video of the completed daggers
watching the movie tonight
Saw it twice, its a good flick.
Great work Michael.
Great video! Very cool daggers 🗡🗡
Lisan al Gaib!!!
Great movie, better knife. Fantastic job sir!
It turned out great!
Great job🎉
You sir, are a knife genius 🍸
Thanks, I am still learning as I design new knives.
So this is not a haters comment so bare with me The one and only thing that I seen that makes it a bit off is the ricasso area really should flow through the guard and into the handle matching the width so it don’t look like a stick handle Aside from that I dig the blade and so far the channel Thank you
Good feedback, I have done that on other knives.
@@MichaelJonesCustomKnives hey I’m still learning ……building another press and I’ll post it in my channel some day
Building me another as we speak
beautiful knife and pattern
Where would be a good place to buy supplies to make a forge
I buy most of my materials (ceramic fiber insulation and castable refractory) from either E-Bay or Amazon. If you have a local fireplace supplier they might have this on hand for a reasonable price. The steel for the shells I sourced from a local supplier. All of the fittings came from the local big box store for building materials. The blowers I also found online.
How much would you charge for a forge?
Sorry, I do not make them to sell. Besides, they are extremely heavy. The large one is in excess of 200 lbs. and it would cost a fortune just to ship it. These are not that hard to make, I suggest you watch some how to videos and come up with your own design. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Did you build your forged or buy them?
I built them, these are my own design. They both have forced air ribbons burners, ceramic fiber insulation (3" in the larger forge, 2" in the smaller forge), castable refractory for the walls (2" in the larger forge, 1.25" in the smaller forge) as best as I can remember. I use the smaller forge for most jobs (knives, axe heads, etc.) and the large forge for bigger jobs like swords, machetes', and larger items that wont fit into the smaller forge. Both will get over 2400F but the larger forge takes longer to get up to heat due to the mass.
Nice
👍

Beautiful! So curious and i loved the narrative with proper explainations. Always my dream to work with my hands in these types of fields!
