Your doing things right for long casts, great display ! I use 13 fters and 15 fters 4 oz to 5 oz Pyrimid weights 25lb to 30lb 8 braid as it is round. If your right handed use your left as a Driver pushing down as you cast, I put extra weight on my butt section to make things easier to get that pendulum effect. I was a custom rod builder for 22 years and modified my 13 fters for long cast Letting your line flow free off the spool with no retrictions is very important. I raised the first big guide by a foot to let the line flow easier and moved the other 9 guides accordingly. I hope this will helps someone who wants too long cast.

Great video & tips for all of us. It's good you mentioned rod height & person's height. Like all things you do improve with practice following your tips. What's your thoughts on casting cannon triggers bait launchers, etc. A friend recommended it to me. Thanks

I don't get the part where he puts the drag all the way down, what kind of difference does it do when the bail is open anyways while casting? Does the spool start to turn and thus ruining the loops coming off? He did talk about it but I'm dumb so I just don't fully understand it

I've noticed getting a somewhat of a running start helps a lot. However, it can be a bit hard when your on a slated platform. On the beach, get a running start.

Try using a multiplier you can cast a lot further!

These are not surf spinning reels. A surf spinning reel has bigger and shallow spools for better casting. These are just normal all around spinning reels that you can use for casting and jigging.

Keep your arm all the way extended from start to finish never bend your elbow. No power in a bent elbow. push your right hand and pull with your left hand once you swing your rod in front of you… most powerful swing.

I'm not sure that you can teach how to surf cast dude

As someone who is newer to surf fishing, i highly recommend a glove. Any glove at first will be good. I got a fishing glove, just like cloth and rubber coating. Before i used the glove, I had an extremely great cast but completely slit my index finger. I mean, it was so bad, it bled all night, and i honestly should have gone to the ER to get stitches or something. Moral of the story; wear protection😂

I was all for doing the same to my cart till I saw the price, at $490 its three times what I paid for my cart. I'm at the point where the low cart is a royal pain, but I can build one from scratch for less than I can likely sell my cart as is for. I do more pier fishing these days so sand tires aren't needed but I like the four wheel ideal and something besides the smooth typical sand tires. For years I used a folding shopping cart with rod holders and that was great but it limited the size of what I brought with me. so I went with the SR cart but its low and a pain to get at things. I was knocking around the idea of just making a lift and adding the axles and making my own push handle. It doesn't need to be so long on a four wheel cart either It can just be a near vertical rise with a full length grip. More like a shopping cart handle then a mower handle. It would also take up less room in the truck. The way mine is set up now the wheels are outboard of the frame, thus making it about 31" wide or so, its a tight fit through some gates on the piers and it makes storing it a bit of a headache as well since i can't just leave it loaded and tuck it in the corner. I want to put the wheels underneath, maybe with two smaller wheels vs four equal size wheels.

That is the worst casting video I have ever seen. Your technique is terrible, arms bent, hands in wrong position etc. straighten your arms, use a longer drop from tip down to rod join, step into the cast and push and pull and it will greatly improve your casting

Very good presentation. However, I would have liked to see your line and bait after the cast.

So yesterday, I went out to the local soccer field to practice. I found myself walking out almost every time to get my sinker out of the grass. Today I cut an X in a tennis ball and shoved the sinker inside. I caught a Black Lab twice and a Dalmatian once. They both put up a great fight.

Awesome video. Thanks for this I learnt a lot. Just bought myself a new 12ft rod and this video has given me some great insight into casting. I have slowly moved from 7ft - 10ft and now trying out a 12ft. Keep up the great content.
