    Hello, may I ask how to ensure that the angles of the two rotor blades are symmetrical? Is there any method or tool?

    • @silverlightaviation
      @silverlightaviation 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      What angle exactly do you mean? The fixed pitch of the rotor blades? That is set by the clamping machined straps from hub bar to blade. The machining has to be quite close and precise on the hub bar and the clamping parts. If there is a tiny bit of difference, that is taken care of by rotor track and balancing using a multi-axis balancer but that has to be done by flying on the specific machine. We use PB4 balancer. You have to also know what to do with it not just buy the equipment.

    • @silverlightaviation
      @silverlightaviation ปีที่แล้ว

      304. I think I got an e-mail from you. Obviously, I cannot tell you every detail, but you asked in the e-mail about fatigue on stainless steel. It is all about engineering for the material and controlling manufacturing processes like the welding, so you do not create pre-mature fatigue in the metal. Bottom line unlike the German machines ours have not had a single fatigue crack anywhere. Germans are very good at electro-polishing and making the metal look very shiny but that means nothing when your mast cracks around the engine mount because the basic design and welding process control is incorrect.

    ALWAYS remove the back stick when starpping back to the back seat...

    • @zlindriver7632
      @zlindriver7632 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr. Gyro: I'm assuming you meant to urge removing the stick from the rear cockpit when using the rear seat to store a BACKPACK. If I'm correct about that, I'd be interested in why you recommend this. What hazard is reduced by removing the stick from the rear cockpit? Thanks in advance. Clueless student pilot here.

    • @lagyro
      @lagyro ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zlindriver7632 Yes, the back stick should be removed any time there is no qualified pilot in the back seat. During take off, the stick has to go all the way to its furthest back position. It stays there for few seconds, but it has to be able to freely go there. If you have a large bag, or a person with a large belly on the back seat, the stick may be prevented from going all the way to the back, and thus impeed the safe takeoff. Additionally, if the pilot tries to muscle the stick back with a large bag on the back seat, the stick may get lodged in the seat belt supporting the bag, and be prevented to go back to its mnormal position. So, removing the stick on the AR-1 takes two bolts (7/16ths wrench) and about 5 minutes of your time... just remove the back stick...

    U have all these strong bolts and stainless parts, why not the little aluminum block be made out of stainless or light titanium that would be much stronger than the aluminum block. It seems the aluminum block might be the weakest link and with that hole drilled through pretty near the edges. Just am wondering is all.

    • @silverlightaviation
      @silverlightaviation ปีที่แล้ว

      And yet not in a single crash the Aluminum block has ever torn off. We are not making tanks. These are aircraft. We do not solve problems that do not exist. The name of the game is liten and simplify through engineering with proper safety margins for the application at hand. Not complicate and tankify.

      @user-ev2qo1hj1g ปีที่แล้ว

      @@silverlightaviation I totally get it, I am just wondering is all and I know it is not a tank or warbird. I realize the problems more than likely do not exist 100 percent. • @silverlightaviation
      @silverlightaviation ปีที่แล้ว

      Those bolts can handle over 60 G's. You should be more worried about the Aluminum structure the bolts go into. They will break before the bolts. But I understand all people who don't know always worrying about the bolts instead. The largest danger in all aircraft is always the bolt that drives the aircraft. That one breaks apart really quickly. Biggest failure point :)

    • @user-ev2qo1hj1g
      @user-ev2qo1hj1g ปีที่แล้ว

      @@silverlightaviation I totally believe you but an airplane wing with more than one bolt holding a wing on I would think could possibly keep flying if one worked out or failed. Those bolts in the wing are static and not spinning like on a gyro. I know they have keepers, but still. And many planes have ballistic parachutes on board, especially LSA. On the gyros it just seems to me that there are maybe 4 bolts or more in a rotor head that if one failed its goodbye. One would think that the bolt surely is strong enough to handle the G loading or any other stresses. But what if it was manufactured with a crack or void internally. I am not sure if they are magnetic particle inspected. Just saying is all. The other thing is the bearing or bearings in the rotor hub assembly. Are they monitored for heat like maybe a helicopter. What if one of the bearings got hot and scorched and it froze up. I use to farm and big combines would burn a bearing up every so often and throw a drive shaft. When u take the plastic or carbon body off of the gyros they just don't seem like much is all to me and don't seem redundant in some ways. I would love to see testing on them and strength numbers. I would love to buy and own one once properly trained. Maybe I am paranoid, but man they just seem fragile for having all of that rotor spinning and experiencing Gs under load on that little square tube going to the top with two little ears to hold a bolt and hold the assembly on. I am sure the hardware is aircraft grade stuff. Maybe you can chime back please so I can learn. Thanks

    • @silverlightaviation
      @silverlightaviation ปีที่แล้ว

      @@user-ev2qo1hj1g There are bolts and pins in many airplane wings that if one broke, you are pretty much done. So you should never fly a Cessna 152, 172, 182, Searey, RV12 and many others. You just do not see them because they are hidden away and only checked on an annual inspection if that. At least in gyroplanes and trikes they are right there for you to inspect. Aircraft use AN hardware which follows DOD military spec. The difference is precision and quality control compared to regular hardware. Otherwise grade 5 SAE hardware is just as strong, though thread sizes are longer.

    • @silverlightaviation
      @silverlightaviation ปีที่แล้ว

      Your setup must not be proper. The angle it goes up etc. Also your front wheel probably moved sideways a bit. You have to put something that stops your front wheel from being able to turn. As I recommended not just front and back stops but 1x1 side stops and then go around the tire on top with a strap so tire does not come up. This also acts in stopping your rudder to move (like a gust lock) because rudder is linked to the front wheel and that is also something you want in long trailerng
