50:16 I think Beyoncé was definitely trying to avoid looking like she was making a political statement. At that point in her career, her dad and team were still crafting and curating her image to make her a crossover pop star. Later, when "taking a stance" was more popular and expected, she figured out how to profit from that. It wasn't as risky at that point because she had already established herself as one of the biggest pop stars of our generation.

I am in awe of Dr. Watkins and the brilliant way she challenges the "master narratives" about our history. She so succinctly, cogently, and relatably explains the ways we can break free from these imposed frameworks and think about our history in a way that centers the agency and systems of thought of our people. This orientation is so liberating. Thank you for this amazing presentation and thank you to the organizers for creating space for and sharing this conversation.
