I remember that night if it was yesterday What a show .i still have my ticket stub,pitpass and LAST DRAG RACE POSTER I also orderd Lions blue wool jacket too! It took me 3 months of washing cars and Mowing lawns to pay for it. I wear it on Saturdays to the doughnut shop in H.B.

Hello Ed; I will tell you a funny story about "us" that happened in about 1981, see if you remember it. I was a trucker that worked for "Bob Yancey" at Yancey Machine tool. I picked up behind the cam shop where you had some machine tools and old highway patrol cars parked.This time is different. Bob Yancey came down to do some business with you. I brought my wife and 3 1/2 year old with me for some family time because I was always gone.Bob and us were staying in the same hotel. Bob invited my wife, son and I to go to lunch with him and you.I said yes because I have loved cars since I was 12.Ed, you were one of my idols, so I was very excited. We went in the backdoor of a restraunt, that I think you ate at quite often.I think you had a friend or two with you.We went to a large round table booth where we had to slide to the back from each side, very private.In the confusion of the round booth, when we settled down for lunch, My son "Larkin" was sitting next to you. He was a wild 3 1/2 yeat old and I was freaking out. My wife was sitting next to him and then me.Everything is fine and then: You are telling a story and Larkin reachs over and starts eating off "your plate". I could not reach him and thought I was going to have a heart attack. You let it go, like the professional you have allways been. Take care, Michael

1972. 9yrs old and my Dad ask ..you want to go the Drag Races..little did I know it was Linos last race..all I really remember is the crowd..and the fans standing right on the guard rails for the final rounds...Crazy..❤

I was there, only 11 years old with my Uncle George, I still have the participant stickers for the "last race at the beach" remember it like it was yesterday, the emotions this slide show just gave me took me right back there as if it was happening today, thanks so much

Perfection!! Perfect pictures, perfect music, perfect timing. I grew up in So-Cal, and went to Irwindale, OCIR, Pomona and Bakersfield, but never Lions. I was only seven when it closed. My dad absolutely loved the place and was there for the last race. They tore up the starting line asphalt when the race was over. My dad had a chunk, but it somehow got lost. I did inherit an authentic Last Drag Race poster and a champagne bottle (with the Lions logo) from that night. I drive right past where it used to be on my way to and from work. When it was the 50th anniversary of the last race, I imagined the heartache my dad must have been feeling 50 years ago. This video brought me to tears…in a good way Thank you.
