All I can say is I finished Wukong, I never even played the Astro bot game that came with the ps5 let alone buy the new Astro bot game. Wukong is GOTy in my book

I'm a Wukong Fan, played 180hrs, level 273 NG++. I'll be the first to say it's Not game of the year. Good game, but has too many missed opportunities to be great. Latest patch helped, but too little too late. Too many invisible walls, not enough in-between plays, no mini games, no jumping or climbing, rushed chapter 6, no epic play through (except opening fight)and so on. Good game but they just missed those cohesive epic moments that make games great. In short, it's just boss fight after boss fight after boss fight with very little of anything else.

I have Astro bot and it’s a great introductory game for non gamers but not game of the year worthy…

Astro bot was made when the ps5 came out you can’t just take a game from almost 5 years ago and call it game of the year cause they made a million changes to the game 😂

Game of the year is made up bought and paid for and has no real meaning. Gamers choice is the only real one that matters and guess who won that, Wukong 🎉

Black Myth wukong was great, but it def wasn't game of the year to me. Idk if ASTRO Bot was either. I think FFVII Rebirth got robbed. Maybe even Helldivers got robbed too. It's crazy to me that GameScience felt entitled to that award. FFVII Rebirth is so content rich from combat, to side quests, to mini games, to graphics to main story quest. The story should really be how badly it was snubbed.

Black Myth wukong fans crying abput this are insane to me. Just looking at different score sites it was the worst rated game from a user score perspective. So why should it have been the clear winner? I would have been fine with every nominee so its funny to see how much the fans of the game that is commonly seen as the worst of the nominees cry the loudest.

This is why i dont care about this anymore. They basically gave themselves the award.

I was talking to a friend about the possibility or astrobot winning and after it won. By the logic that people use "its a really good platformer" "its very polished" "its really fun" then Nintendo platformers should have won year after year or even crash 4. The game might have been good, but it wasn't better than its competition. It came down to nostalgia from all the Cameos.

The reason it didn't win is because it wasn't innovative like at all. It was just a mix of Sekiro, Asuras Wrath and GOW with a coat of king goku lore paint

I am a Sony guy and even I think Astrobot shouldnt have won. People complaining about Elden Ring DLC when Astrobot's a DLC length game. My GOTY is honestly any game up there except Astrobot 😂

Gamers underestimate just how many children have consoles these days. There is no demographic that will constantly replay already completed levels and not get bored like under 10s.

Astro Bot is a great game. Everyone loved its charm and polish when it came out, and had almost zero negative reviews. It deserves zero hate for being a great game. That being said, Black Myth Wukong should have won.
