26 is legit speed for a 11-12 starting off the side. You have to realize they did not have the advantage of a block start. I would say with a good block start that boy would have been 25.50-25.75. With blocks that would likely get you top 20 in Far Westerns, the highest event for age groupers in the USA. He had great tempo.

Sure but honestly his comp didnt do too bad. 2nd place was ~3 seconds behind, I wouldnt be surprised if most of the guys he swam against were former swimmers for college and even team USA. Really doesn't matter at the end of the day to me

for the most part 13-14's don't swim 50's except for 50 free. probably a summer swim meet where 50's are offered for everyone.
