Burn Test on Honeywell Vista Fire Alarm
What’s the point of this?
I have a question about the Vista series by Honeywell. On the newer Vista 21ip LTE panels, the built in cellular communicator and IP Communicator do not wire off the ECP terminals. Would this mean that a short, open, or ground fault on auxiliary power or the ECP wires will not effect the communicators built-in on the 21 IP LTE board? Thanks!
We use isolated power supplies on the KP and LX busses. Problem solved.
Every control panel when shorted will have a failure to function of some sort.
DMP or LENEL , lets say all true high security systems need Isolators like the Fire industry uses. Total ULC in Canada should be or in the future you will see happen .
Honeywell and Napco too. A flathead and a staple essentially can take down a system if you have access to a disarmed keypad.
To easy, I went into the Fire industry for 2 years installing and inspecting many buildings. Isolators are needed in the Security field. Say with the DMP or any bus device if not electricity protected with 1~ with a circuit breaker like an isolator, With a TRUE class A circut , The bus is shut down. DSC NEO has isolator options only issue only 16 can be used. Better then nothing . And yes that is on a class A circut . For the new guys a class A curcut is 2x wires out and return 2 wires in. Both sides can function independently. If a wiring issue arrises with one device , The ISOLATOR (like a breaker) kicks out and your other devices that are addressable report back to the side opposite the breaker. Hope this makes sense. All the years in security , all systems are not realy using ISOLATORS even the monster LENEL systems .
Btw I have worked on panels that had the OVC light lit and the system was just operating headless. CS was getting troubles and alarms but customer wasn’t able to access the system
