Shot inside and outside St. Louis in SUPER low light. Many shots have a small Aputure light on the dash, but a few are just ambient light from the car and street lamps. Shot in ZRAW then transcoded to ProRes HQ to use in Davinci Resolve 4096x2160 aspect ratio Lens was wide open at T2.1 23.98fps ISO 2500 Shutter Angle 180 degrees Thanks for watching!

Soviet Lens 37mm f2.8 | Z Cam E2 M4
มุมมอง 274ปีที่แล้ว
Quick test shoot with the Mir-1b 37mm. I really like the character of this lens. It has great texture, color rendition, and slightly swirly bokeh in the edges (obviously more so if you have full frame). The lens is also a little soft wide open, so great for skin, and a more vintage cinematic look. The lens flares are fantastic at some angles, but can just completely wash out your frame in other...
Z-Cam E2-M4 | DZOFILM Vespid Prime 40mm T2.1
มุมมอง 2.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
We visited Castlewood just outside of St. Louis. This was a test of the DZOFILM Vespid 40mm lens I've recently purchased. I thought "I'll try it out, if I don't like it I'll send it back"... I'm definitely keeping it. The look is super impressive. I love the focal length, the colors rendered, the nearly non-existant focus breathing, the focus fall off, the build quality. I don't really have any...
Z-CAM E2-M4 ProRes Raw Footage
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
We're smoking some ribs in this ProRes RAW test video. For camera settings I shot at 24fps in DCI 4k, with a 180 degree shutter speed, and I think the white balance was set to 5400K-5600K. I used a Rokinon 35mm Cine DS lens and moved the aperture between 1.5-2.8 throughout. In post I changed the image profile from zlog2 to V-Gamut/V-Log, slapped a V-Log LUT on from Panasonic's website and then ...

We visited the Seven Bridges trail in Colorado. Everything was shot in ZRAW and color graded with lumetri in Premiere. This was more of a test of how Z-Cam handles low light since there was so much tree cover. I overexposed most of the shots in the woods and I think they turned out pretty nice :) Thanks Vazen. Z CAM E2-M4 Vazen 28mm Anamorphic | The Great Sand Dunes
มุมมอง 1.9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
We visited The Great Sand Dunes in Colorado before and during sunset. This was another test of the Vazen 28mm anamorphic lens, as well as Z-Cam's WDR setting which is supposed to deliver up to 16 stops of dynamic range. The opening shot as well as a few landscape shots in the middle and end have the WDR setting turned on, and the recording format for those is ProRes 422 HQ, as shooting in ZRAW ...
Z CAM E2-M4 Vazen 28mm Anamorphic | Monument Rocks Kansas
มุมมอง 5153 ปีที่แล้ว
We visited Monument Rocks Park very early one morning which is about 30mins outside of Oakley Kansas. Really wanted to get a look at how the flares look on the Vazen 28mm, and I think they're great! Very cool blue and orange flares from the sun. While color grading the footage I increased the overall contrast, added blues to the shadows and oranges to the mid tones, warmed up the temperature a ...

WOW amazing I need to know if this ZCAM E2 M4 supports BRAW, but I saw your footage ZRAW and is amazing, is 12 bits and no limit record? thanks
WOW nice cinematic reel!, mix of cameras?
Thank you! Just two cameras. Z-Cam E2-M4 & Sony A7IV
Wow real cinemascope looks, is 24fps or slow motion?, thanks !
It’s a great lens and great camera! Everything was shot in slow motion at 45fps.
@jonahwalker4425 yes i was looking the gh5s but this is better for slow motions and the vazen lens the best anamorphic look at that price range can shot true 24 fps in anamorphic the M4? Thanks
@ yes it can shoot from 24fps to 60fps with no crop which is very nice. The vazen company has gone out of business so I’ve found their lenses used for a nice price now. Check out the Blazar Cato lenses too if you haven’t already. They’re half the price of a vazen lens and have a 2x squeeze for a true CinemaScope look!
@jonahwalker4425 Yes i know tha vazen was out, but i check the mft set and added to favorites , i saw other anamorphic lenses but like the vazen look, imposible to compare with the others brands maibye others but much spencibe so i will buy the 28 40 and 65mm mft from vazen
WOW I was looking Sirui but VAZEN is real cinematic CinemaScope and true cine look! bye bye sirui and other brands lol , now is possible to shot Blackmagic RAW 12 bits with video the bm video assist 12g is true? do you need to crop son vignette in the corners or cover the full MFT mount the Vazen lens? thanks Im looking buy the M4 over the S6 for more slow motion and the 4.2.2 internal thanks!
@@FIRUFILMS the Vazens are awesome! You can shoot BRAW with the bm assist on zcam, however I don’t own one so I’m not sure if you can shoot in the 4:3 aspect ratio I shot this footage in with the 12g assist. And yes the 28mm and 40mm Vazens vignette ever so slightly in the corners on the zcam m4 when shooting in that 4:3 aspect ratio especially when using a matte box, but not enough that I crop in personally. The m4 is a great camera! Thanks for watching 😁
Did you really shot 4k 60 fps [[ zraw ]] some people saying its limited 30fps at zraw ?
I did! On the E2 M4 you can shoot 4k ZRAW at 60fps and even C4k ZRAW at 60fps. But there is misinformation out there for sure. Even B&H Photo/Video's product specs page for the camera is incorrect.
@@jonahwalker4425 thats good news thank you so much
Very nice. You have a very lovely compression on the background ; did you have a focal reducer? Do you you use the Zcam M4 without one also? I ask you this because I own the Zcam F6 and I hesitate to buy two M4 or one S6 for interviews. Thanks :)
Thank you! I almost always use a 0.71x focal reducer on the M4. I’ll really only shoot without it when using vintage lenses as I’ve found they can rub up against the focal reducer’s glass.
Ok thanks :) Because the 40mm without it you got a nice 80mm as well :) "two lenses in one" @@jonahwalker4425
Do you prefer this lens over the rokinon?
I do for the look, but it’s a little hard to pull focus.
@@jonahwalker4425 The focus ring is indeed too stiff. I have the mit and I like the look a lot but I am looking into buying something perhaps more modern. Do you find the mir to give a look closer to a movie than the Rokinon does?
@@dimitris.tsakalas yes absolutely. It has character and gives some texture to the image which I’m always looking for in a filmic look. If you haven’t already, I would suggest checking out DZOFILM’s lenses. I’ve used the Pictor zooms and Vespid primes and have been really impressed with the look!
@@jonahwalker4425 Oh I know! Unfortunately they are too expensive for my needs.
Thank you for documenting true Americana. I hope that man gets the help he needs.
Awesome shots! Zcam is seriously slept on!
Nice video:) I jave have a question to you, What made you pick Z cam over other options such as Komodo, Sony FX series, Lumix? Since It is quite minor in the industry I wanna know how you feel as a Zcam user and why you chose Zcam
Thank you! For where I’m at in my career and my workflow -I was looking at price, form factor, sensor size and being able to shoot 1.8x and 2x anamorphic. I think the Z-Cam e2-m4 is an excellent choice for more entry level cinematography, but I know I can upgrade to a S35 or full frame sensor down the line and my rig will look and feel the exact same!… with that said if I had 10k to drop on a Komodo rig I would 😁
@@jonahwalker4425 Agreed! I have the E2 and I get wonderful images with great dynamic range. Do you pull focus manually?
@@ndavies8 Yes I do! I use a nucleus nano system
Using a speedbooster or the locking ef mount?
This is with a speedbooster. 0.71x Viltrox.
Great shots tho :) I got my self a E2 M4 as well and I like it so far 👍🏼🙌🏼
2:32 such a lovely shot
Thanks! It was a super nice sunset that day.
Is there any chance you could provide the original RAW footage for us to test with?
Great shots, did you use a speedbooster or MFT mount lens?
Nice 🔥🔥🔥 did change profile on davinci resolve or used zcam software
Arguably some of the best examples of Vazen 28mm on TH-cam. I've been kicking around the idea of getting this lens, your footage makes a strong case! Any diopters used in your videos? Seems like you're able to get pretty tight in!
Thank you! No diopters were used, if I remember correctly when we shot these videos the close ups were right or pretty close to the minimum focus distance.
This is insane, I have a zcam E2 M4 and want to buy the siriu anamorphic 24mm for it but wondered if it would look as good as this vazen one? Thoughts?
You’ll get a great image out of the Sirui lens. They’re sharp, the colors are great, and the flares on the 24mm are toned down a bit (which I like) compared to Sirui’s 50mm and 35mm. BUT their squeeze factor is only 1.33x and Vazens are 1.8x so if you mainly want that intense anamorphic look like in my Vazen test videos I don’t think the Siruis compare in my opinion.
@@jonahwalker4425 yes and ive also been seeing that the squeeze factor with sirui arent always just as consistent, im pretty new to this so im debating wether I should just get a normal 24mm or the sirui anamorphic version. Its purpose would be for short films en small commercial for local companies, am I better off just starting out with a normal 24mm?
@@maxbrenke4101 I think for those purposes a normal 24mm makes sense. When I’m doing work for clients I’d say 95% of the time we don’t use anamorphic lenses. Unfortunately 🙂
This lens if very sharp, by all appearances. I'm looking at the 40mm for my E2. But this 28mm looks "normal", not too wide at all. Much smaller than the 40 too.
do you know what zraw update you shot it in on the camera.
If you’re talking z-cam firmware updates then it was the 0.98.0 update. I didn’t use z-cam’s video suite, just the adobe premiere update to get zraw to import.
@@jonahwalker4425 got it because the fb group says anything under .94 is true raw 12 bit
Such a beautiful image, especially at the price point of the e2-m4. Think I've found my new setup :)
great footage
from what im seeing Zraw looks absolutely amazing than its counter family prores raw. do you think?
ZRaw is amazing for sure. Just being able to capture 12bit in camera w/o an Atomos monitor is helpful for a number of logistical reasons. Only thing is, ZRaw does not perform as well in post as ProRes RAW. BUT if you have the computer power for editing, then yeah ZRaw is the way to go in my opinion.
@@jonahwalker4425 yes so I heard. I have a M1 Mac it edits it with no issue.
@@nexgenfilms5727 how do you process zraw?
@@Filmsimulation Using a pretty fast machine. I use the M1 processor from a Mac
@@nexgenfilms5727 can i ask what u use to edit it on mac? don’t know if final cut would handle it too well
Great vid!
Man I can’t believe you hauled around that set up for a hike lol. Absolutely worth it though, what beautiful images man. Real inspiring.
Thank you for watching! Much appreciated. My arms were definitely like jelly after that hike lol
These are such clean images. Did you record raw and did u record it internally or with Atomos V?
I recorded 12bit Zraw internally. I haven’t shot much with ProRes Raw on my Atomos V yet.
@@jonahwalker4425 can récord zraw 12 bits on SDD usb? or what SD i need thansk
@ yes you can record zraw to an SSD. I have had no issues with that so far.
@@jonahwalker4425 Ok thanks very much!
Truly amazed by these. I subbed because I've been thinking of getting one and not many videos like these out there that excite me like this!
Thanks for watching and for the sub! I’ll have another Vazen lens test video coming out soon
Are you using metabones?
For this I used the Viltrox .71x EF-M2 II.
@@jonahwalker4425 I see,im not sure about my viltrox but its kinda muddy/not sharp. Hows the rokinon cine lens?
@@Filmsimulation My Viltrox was also very soft and could not focus to infinity. However, there are a few youtube videos on how you can modify it to correct those issues. It's a very simple modification. As for the Rokinons, I think they're great for what you'd be paying for. Very sharp above T2.8 if that's what you're looking for. Only thing I don't like is the amount of focus breathing.
@@jonahwalker4425 I see, i've been trying to fix that viltrox of mine and couldnt really "fix" it. it is always soft and all, anyways the rokinon is FF lens and our viltrox is .71, is there any quality loss on the image?
@@Filmsimulation wide open at T1.5, yes. With the viltrox I found the rokinons to be much softer than if using just an EF mount. However if stopping down to just T2.0 or T2.8 it sharpens up.
Great test! Incredible what can be done with so little these days.
Очень круто! Красивое видео
