I've been taking lengthy road trips for almost 40 years now and have a wide assortment of photographs from the road. TH-cam seemed to be a logical way to share these images with others so I am now experimenting with video media, although not sure where this is all headed. A 1971 Dodge SuperBee has been my only companion for most of these journeys. While the car is very comfortable and dependable, its notoriety and visual impact is becoming a burden on my preferred anonymity while travelling. The channel name comes from a trip I did from Mexico to Canada, its entirety all on US191. More videos and book are in the works for that one.
Carlisle 2024, a reunion.
A pioneer in the Chrysler Performance industry makes a few passes down the drag-strip with his adult daughters.
Time takes its toll, but emotions and memories last forever. As profound as the track was to this moment in time, to me, the blissful drive through the cornfields of Pennsylvania captured the spirit of the afternoon.

Chrome in the Dome - Springerville, Arizona

I'm not much of a car-show type of guy. But Springerville and Winslow, two small Arizona towns, often produce remarkable cars with wonderful stories from the folks and families who passionately care for their vehicles.
1966 Dodge Coronet

This is a short drive in a rare, old, war horse. 426 HEMI 4-speed 3.54 Dana. 1 of 11 produced. The car was special ordered new at Berglund-Schneider Motor Company in Cherokee, Iowa by a local drag racer. Fortunately, it was reunited briefly with him and his wife about a year ago. They also had taken this car on their Honeymoon back when it was new. She was laughing about trying to get all the d...
Chryslers at Carlisle 2022 with the last few Ramchargers.

Only a handful of the Engineers who created the dominance of Dodge and Plymouth Musclecars remain. This is a brief, unplanned video from a couple of years back at Carlisle, PA. If you think you know everything about Mopar- think again. Get the book We Were the Ramchargers by Dave Rockwell and read it carefully. Once you finish that book, then you might truly know something about Mopar Muscle. T...
Part one of Amtrak trip 2021- Empire Builder

2 social misfits travel a western USA loop on Amtrak starting in Chicago. Took the Empire Builder to Seattle, spent the night and caught the Coast Starlight to Los Angeles. Overnight in LA and then it was on to the Southwest Chief back to Chicago. The big misfit kicked the smaller misfit off the train in Winslow...much to the surprise of the Conductor.
Reunion 2023

An assemblage of brief memories from the Log House this year. This video is primarily intended for my cousin Alan and his family. Recent events have no doubt placed a terrible burden on you guys, and perhaps this will provide you with a few moments of peaceful distraction. And while I enjoyed my rest and relaxation this year, it just wasn't the same without Anna and Georgia constantly badgering...
Half Glass Ranch gets a new shop!

After the big fire, it occurred to me that it was time for a new shop. This one is 40X60 with a 12 foot awning on 2 sides. The package was ordered through Gable Steel Buildings 2nd quarter 2022 and delivered Nov 1st.
Searching for Corkscrew Gulch turntable
มุมมอง 2283 ปีที่แล้ว
In September of 2020 I went searching for the old Silverton Railroad Corkscrew Gulch turntable. A lengthy but pleasant Jeep trip starting at Red Mountain Pass, then down through the remains of Red Mountain town, along the precarious old railroad-grade towards Corkscrew Gulch. The Autumn colors were well pronounced and weather was mild. Hal Ketcham provides the musical accompaniment.

Road Trip 2016: Badlands NP and the SuperBee

Another road trip, this one from Arizona to Minnesota and back, retracing portions of my 1986 route. The car and driver are the same from '86, perhaps a bit more mileage on both. 1971 SuperBee was at ~330,000 during this trip.

Family Room find. After 20+ years...WILL IT START?
มุมมอง 5734 ปีที่แล้ว
A misplaced 1964 Chevrolet C10 pick-up has been stored in the Family Room of a private residence. While well preserved, it has been sitting there collecting junk for far too long. Sooo... will it start? Misanthropic curmudgeon attempts to exhume old truck from unused family room of house during bout of insomnia at 2AM.

What a beast....I love it.
Nice video. Nice collection of cars and good experiences. Thanks for sharing. 👍 🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed my travels. I see you have some very interesting items on your channel- I'm looking forward to viewing in more detail. I've spent endless hours in machine shops, but still enjoy learning/watching others.
Wow, so that’s what the two little girls who dropped off their dad in his 1965 Dodge Coronet WAGON with a 426 Hemi/727 look like today, about 59 years ago! He was off to a match race somewhere. They could barely see over the front seat! They said their goodbyes, and then mom slipped over to drive the raucously idling Hemi away slowly down the side street away from the Hilton garage on the border of Ferndale and Hazel Park MI (my home town). It chirped going into second! How did I know I know it was the Hemi I was suspecting? One of the other Ramchargers walked by and said, “that’s got a Hemi in it!” 1965 - a pronouncement which has been said thousands of times since to the point it is an all time classic label! Rich Coppel
Great memories! Yes, 2 little kids all grown up and driving Dads current Hemi now!

Epic road trip!
This ol' girl has ~350,000 miles on it now. It's been coast to coast and border to border. You might recall this one- it was "Green-Go" back in High School? Anyways- I took it to college and then lived in it for roughly a year after graduation driving aimlessly around the southwestern United States. No money- but I did have a car a therefore a roof over my head.
@@US-191 Wow -- a great story. Must've been fun living in it and roadtripping! I don't remember it from back in the day; just your blue '70 Roadrunner with the 383 4-speed (pistol grip).
Great video! Love the Superbird - a dream car. What’s under the hood?
440 6-pack, console automatic. Black bucket seat interior. It's a fairly decent original car with ~60k miles. Took me 50 years to track this particular one down. The background story of my connection with it has become very popular, so I think I'll put a video together explaining those details. If you watch "50 years in the making" on my channel, you'll get the most recent history.
Congratulations on the 1st place award! Nice to see you brought Donnie, RIP.
@@chadhanstedt4599 Thanks! You should go next year. And read my reply to secret agent.
Smashing Pumpkins? I surely was not expecting that from you. Awesome cars. Thanks for sharing. And the tribute.
@@secretagent8126 Watch the Smashing Pumpkins video for that song. 1971 Dodge similar to the 'bee. But I have their CD too. I need to get Chad to do some original stuff for my channel. He's the only one of us with true artistic talent!
Fantastic machine! There is no engine like a classic Hemi! 👍
Agreed. King Kong unleashed... lotsa great motor designs over the years, but only one HEMI.
What a wonderful video of my dad and the Ramchargers story. It was a great family.
You & Pam were some lucky girls back in the day. Not only did you have the world's "coolest" babysitters, but also played with Barbies (no seatbelts) in back of the only 426 HEMI powered 1965 Dodge Coronet station-wagon on Woodward Avenue.
Phenomenal! Love the exhaust sound. A true member of the Mopar Patrol!
Ha- an interesting term which I had long since forgotten. Hope all is well in your world. As you can see, rather busy in mine... yet no complaints. There are some other videos on US191 you might enjoy. Thanks for checking in!
Beautiful 66 Coronet! Is that a hemi!? Looks like a bad ass sleeper!!
Yup- a big 'ol Hemi in a subtle 2-door. Nice looking Buick Wildcat you have on your channel.
Old man here…born & raised in Detroit and so fortunate to be a kid with these (and MANY more) men as my boyhood heroes . I have a big brother who was a Drag Racer and rubbed elbows with many legends of this era of racing. There will never again be a confluence of men, machines and industry to move a generation to achieve their dreams.
Well stated! I've heard some wonderful stories from Detroit guys in their youth, seeing the Ramchargers "road-testing" cars on the streets in their neighborhoods or hanging around the shop in the early evenings. Often parked outside with the hood up and talking with them, but if an "adult" would walk up, hood went down and the car would drive off. Those guys were damn special- and have given us all a legacy to enjoy. Get the book if you don't already have it- you will enjoy the time travel and memories that come out of Dave Rockwell's words and photographs
Gorgeous car - got good pickup. Does the cigarette lighter work?
Looks great, sounds great, goes like a banshee, and pretty much the car I would have ordered, if my paper route paid better. Are you still running the 5.5 wheels? Your tires look to be a bit bigger than the 7.75 x 14’s
Yes 5.5 wheels. I screwed the tire selection up. It had very dry 7.75-15 bias-ply redlines on it when I got it years ago. I was in a hurry to drive and enjoy it, but the only available 14 inch tire was Cooper 225-14's. I never cared for the look after I went that route. But it drove nice... and hooked up better.
Awesome ride! And unlike most people these days, you know what a freeway on-ramp is for!
Yeah- no kidding!! Cars doing 80MPH and people try to merge at 45?
The Canadian lady knew what she was talking a-boat, aye? Sweet car! Has to be the finest remaining example.
Beer and donuts- aye? Yeah, you Canucks train them well! Of the 4 remaining (of the original 11) remaining that I know of, this is the only one that gets "properly" driven.
That is one stunning survivor absolutely beautiful.
It's surprisingly complete/unmolested considering what its original purpose was. She's a good ride and still nice and tight. Watch "50 Years in the Making" on my channel for more of the story.
Wow what a beauty! I’m working on building my ‘66 Belvedere with a 440 :)
Should be a good choice! Enjoy that 440!
These guys made my teenage years in the late 60's &70's some of my most memorable. My 62' Dart race car, 69' Super Bee, 69GTX and 70' Challenger were a tribute to these fellas and the designers at Chrysler. Thank god for bringing them together to do their thing. We'll never see another time in the American automotive industry where the stars aligned like they did during their time at Chrysler.
Well said. So few realize what these guys did for us. I assume you have the book? If not, you should get one. It is important reading. We'll be at Carlisle this weekend selling copies. Stop by, say hello and visit the guys.
The look on his face when the big Hemi sparks to life, pure joy!
Yes, glad I could share it.
Love the upright, rectilinear styling of this beautiful beast. It’s giving the proverbial finger to the drag coefficient in favor of Q-ship good looks.
Ha!! Well put. That aspect is also one of my favorite "sleeper" aspects. ..ain't no Cuda, RR, SuperBee, Charger etc. It's a taxicab with taxicab interior!
Beautiful car!! I have a 68 Coronet 500 no hemi, but 440..finest car to drive!
Lotsa torque with the 440! There are some other Mopar vid's on my channel you might enjoy, including the durable ol' 440.
@@US-191 I will for sure check them out. My 68 was featured on Dead dodge garage a few months ago. Went in for a tune. Blew a torque converter in his shop! lol..
Truly bad ass! Loved it beautiful car
Jewel
Thanks!
My grandpa had this car... the main difference is the engine. Slant 6 and 3 speed manual. Not fast at all. Also a 4 door
But the interiors are much the same. Hopefully you have great memories of both.
There is absolutely nothing more satisfying than hearing the “Clanging” metal to metal of putting an old school air filter assembly back on a car, and the possibility of dropping a wing-nut. What a great ride!!
I never really thought about the metallic sound- but good point! They are all plastic now. I almost left that clip out during editing...but damn, that whoppin' air cleaner is such a big deal I left it in. Glad I did, Thanks for the comment!
Awesome ride
The correct ignition curve and properly adjusted accelerator pumps sure make it fun to mash the throttle at 25MPH! Yeehaw!
Important history, great video.
I see you have a '65. Great choice! The 1965 cars were probably their favorite. The same group (John, Dave, Mike and Al) will be at Carlisle next week. Stop by and say hello! Shake hands and tell them Thank You. Seems few people fully grasp just how much these men did for our hobby and the sport of drag racing.
@@US-191 yes sir! I watch all of the history I can with these amazing cars unfortunately I’m in Denver Colorado. I would love nothing more than to come talk to you guys, appreciate the reply! I will be teaching my grandkids and showing them all of these videos on how important it is that we learn our car and engineering history.
Awesome video my friend. Glad you were able to make that trip.
Thank you. I didn't take many pictures, but was going through them last week and realized I had just enough to put something simple together.
Really nice story that tugs at the heart….”Superglad” for you and the memories that flooded back as well as the news made on that Journey!
Yeah- that was a special trip. Not only the childhood memories of the car, but the new ones made during our reunification.
hello. professionnal editing~😉
Very nice video. I highly highly recommend that you keep the raw movie, such that later on, you can add names to the people that you met.
WOW... nice shop Jeff, I can't wait to go there and see it in person!
Any time Buddy! Although wait for this damn heat to subside.
Awesome Jeff. I especially smiled when I saw the first tool in the shop was your favorite therapeutic push broom. 👍😎👍
Thanks Joel, Yeah... I do enjoy sweeping floors! Simple mindless activity I suppose.
Thanks for the ride
Glad you enjoyed it!
Here from the 67-72 Forum (Paul Y) absolutely love this!

What a great time. 👍😎👍
I was at this same junction; came from 261 and turned right to 163 towards Mexican Hat.

Remember burnouts in the parking lot at Teakwoods? Yeah.. that was dumb.
Nice truck . Welcome to the Forum also. I am subbed for more video's
It's probably a good thing that you didn't mess with it much when you were younger... You are older and more responsible now, and will appreciate that it has not been "molested". I look forward to seeing you on the forum...
