My Router Table Accident - Woodworking
My Router Table Accident
I've been a little quiet over the past few months and this is why. At the beginning of December 2020 I had an accident in the shop which resulted in me having emergency surgery on my left hand. Ultimately I was left with a partial amputation on my index finger and major joint damage on my middle finger.
I've been taking time to allow my hand to heal and have come a long way over these few months. Unfortunately I've had some other issues arise that will require another surgery in the near future. This means I will have another period of recovery, however, I'm told the recovery time should be much shorter this time around.
I wanted to post this to let you know where I've been but more importantly to let you know that this isn't going to stop me from continuing to do what I love. I hope that each and everyone of you never let a setback like this or in general stop you from doing what you want to do.
With that said, follow me on Facebook or Instagram to see more frequent content. I have plenty of builds planned for the future so be on the lookout for those videos!
Thank you so much for your support. It really means so much.

How to Make a Heavy Duty Mobile Base - Metalworking
มุมมอง 51K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Making a Heavy Duty Mobile Base Build Article: bit.ly/2WXhvnS I work in a relatively small space so I keep most of my tools pushed up against the wall when they aren't being used. I had recently gotten this table saw from a guy closing his shop and the base that came with it had limited mobility. This made it difficult to move the saw freely around the shop. I had recently purchased a new Power...

This is really interesting, thanks a lot. I need something like that for my 500kg table saw. What kind of welder are you using? I'd need to buy one and the one you are using seems more simple like with an electrode.

Been there done that. I lost the inside of my pointing finger and now have no meat there It hurts to play guitar after 10 minutes, also my tendon or what ever ended up having the tip knuckle hump out and I cant close it very good. So open F ,C,A s are out lol. Can still play riffs though

i had an accident where the tip of my finger got too close to the router bit. Trust me I know it can happen so fast. I was extremely lucky it was not worse than it was. Thanks for sharing and reminding us how fast things can go wrong, no matter how much we try to be prepared.

Wow. That is a very nice plant stand. I am tempted to make my own, but getting the angle right for the horizontal peices that attach the shelf would be the hardest it seems. Did you decide on an angle you wanted, marked it on the wood and check it with the miter saw? And what angle did you use?

If your welds were good they would look good and shouldnt need ground off.

    • @googleuser3714
      @googleuser3714 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Adding to this comment. if the welds are good and YOU DO GRIND, it should have no voids or pits. Grind off lumpy welds, re-weld, grind again. Try turning up the heat (voltage and wire speed for Amps).

I've done the same kind of base for my 350 kg SAMCO combined jointer-table saw, just a little bigger and heavier than yours. I've used automotive body filler too, but I closed the square holes of the iron profiles with polystyrene plugs and then used body filler to homogenize everything. Nice building btw , will serve you great for sure 💪🏽

for the bottom part with the two pipes I would have added a touch of superglue in the threads so it doesn't move or jiggle loose. It would dry clear and taking it apart would be simple since heat will break the bond if you needed to take it apart. Just torch it and its ready to move.

I lost almost half of my right thumb and yes, we know our fears and what we put at risk in my case guitar, motorcycling and rock climbing and yes, we can move on and thank God I can still ride my bike. Hugs from Chile man.

Good job. I like the low profile design and will probably do this lowered shape on my future rolling projects. On a safety not, It's a little hard to tell in the video but it looks like those casters were zinc plated. It's best to grind that off the surface before welding as it both messes with the quality of the weld and produces zinc oxide fumes that are highly toxic.
