Did you apply 3M glue on the Thinsulate and on the metal ceiling?
Yea the parts where it was a big surface area we had too, to make sure it wasn't going to fall.
I wouldn’t trust that seat in a crash. You’ll probably snap the bolts and die instantly😢 if your insurance knew they’d drop you so fast you’d get the same result you’d get in an accident. Weld it or have someone do it. It’s not worth your life. At least get higher grade bolts. 🤦
It's just a temporary setup! We got welders in the family so they are helping us.
For what it's worth these are a higher grade bolt then what the seat originally came with. I am actually a ticketed journeyman welder. 😅
Where are you?! 😅
Had to wait 5 minutes for a key. Then you rented the wrong sized unit not once but twice. Uhaul didn't troll you two, y'all trolled yourselves.
Actually Uhaul forgot to put the key in the slot and we ordered the right size truck, just not the unit. Thanks for watching.
I watch alot of van builds as I wish to build one someday myself. The thing I don't understand is if metal is prone to rusting when you screw through the metal why does it not rust in those areas? And if they are prone to how do you manage it? Thanks!
We are using drywall screws and screwing into the metal. I'm assuming the interior of the van is already coated with a rust proof paint that is why it's white and not solid metal. Rust mostly appears because of water and moisture, that's why it's good to get a good insulator that is hydrophobic.
@@tamradanny thank you!!
😅
We love that there's an Oilers hoodie and blanket that both make a cameo! Looking good guys!!!
Hey guys, a ton of work to do buuuttt, it'll all be worth it when it's done! Cheers from Jasper.
Appreciate it! Super excited!
A lot of work indeed! But the learning is rewarding
Hey it's great to see you young guys getting into the van sport. That Mat is awesome you guys will be really happy with that decision. I used it in my bills and it was perfect just be sure to choose the right insulation.
I'm in Canada as well, thinking about moving west to east. How far did you drive and did they calculate enough time. Also, was that a 30 day free storage unit you qualified for. Did they have an option for choosing the size before you got there? Thanks
This time around we only needed it for the day. We have done a long roadtrip from Calgary to Ontario which ended up costing just over $2500 (not including gas) for 3 days with Uhual. First month free for the storage unit and yes they have size options before you rent. Eg. (5x5 or 5x10) are what we normally rent and we have 1 bedroom size worth of things.
Hey Guys, looks like a bit of a project. Good Luck. Dont forget to keep the drainage holes clear on the seals of the van. th-cam.com/video/sVKCYhfVYNA/w-d-xo.html
❤
Standard is 16 inches.
The previous owner went ham with the fluid film everywhere, I love this type of content 🤘
Yea, the build up of it is annoying to work around and gross to touch.
This is an amazing project! Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
We can't wait to start converting it too! First dealing with the rust.
Enjoy ur journey
Oof 😅
I would call a lawyer and check if your area has a lemon law
Yea where we're from, things like that don't really exist unfortunately.
What a rollercoaster 😮
Yeah wild month.
Nothing worse than buying used vehicles 😅 I'm looking forward to watching you guys mod it out 🤘
Gawd I hate to be a little black rain cloud, but I own a 2009 sprinter 3500. I got it with 174k miles on it. I've put about 30k more since I bought it. I've put well over $30k in repairs in it in that time. It has literally never been 100 percent fixed. Every time I repair something, another thing breaks immediately afterwards. I feel stuck in it because I put a ton of resources into repairs and build out, and don't have any reasonable way to get myself into something else without losing a ton of money. I live and travel in it full time, and my hope is that eventually I'll break even on the vehicle costs vs what I would have paid in rent, after which I'll probably get rid of it. Hopefully by then it will finally be a good, reliable vehicle for the next owner. Proceed with caution.
Yeah basically what we are running into now, a lot of repairs. We are hoping it will be fine for years to come. Unfortunately Mercedes parts are very expensive but a reliable vehicle.
@@tamradanny I hope to someday get to the reliable part. Best of luck to you with yours!

Such a rad view!

I like your Myron impression Tamra. lol.
Crazy how the just chill out there.
What moving company did you use?
It's been awhile now I don't even remember, I just loaded it on a moving truck with other people's stuff. We usually go with Uhaul otherwise.
@tamradanny OK. Thanks for responding. 🙂
Wow, Hawaii's nature looks incredible. How long did this hike take?
Less than an hour, super short.
What is your name and can I ask you a question
