The absolute top way to acheive everything you've ever wanted in life is to understand you aren't after happiness, happiness is cheap, you can get it from getting promoted to doing cocaine. You aren't after happiness, you're after fulfillment, that's what you're missing, fulfillment doesn't gaurantee you happiness always, but chasing it anyway is what makes you grow and understand what you live for, and that's what at times gives you highs more than you've ever felt not knowing you'll get even higher years later. Persistence, 20 good things add up to an astronomically amazing thing in time ALONG with a sprinkle of lows in there, sometimes quite a lot. You will never reach success in your life AND your soul unless you failed many times to get there. Doing something is better than nothing, even if it's a speck of progress, that adds up every day, that compounds, that matters years later where instead of looking back saying you did nothing, you actually realize you did a ton instead.

@@jayhosh8126 thanks for your comment. I love the perspective ghat “happiness is cheap.” I’ve never heard it put that way. I like the perspective of seeking happiness and joy within yourself and not from others because that is a recipe for disaster and I think that is also tied into why we achieve some things and not others - maybe we are doing stuff to appease others and not for ourselves and our goals. Thanks for spurring deep thoughts this morning!

There’s an older guy I work with. Ok to understand the situation, every 30hrs we work we accumulate 3 hours of sick time. Caps at 40hrs. Guys call off ever 8hrs accumulated. But Brian. This man never calls off and management loves how he can’t gain anything more than the 40 cap. We all tell him you don’t get any points for calling off if you have 8 minimum. Brian says he is from a different time. I’ve told Brian, the management from that time is no longer here!
