Hi, I'm Holden! I'm a BA Hon. who majored in English Literature and Writing. I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2023 and started my PhD in January 2024, where I'm studying American fiction in the 20th and 21st centuries.
I like to pretend I know how to wear the hat of the critic, the historian, the anthropologist, et ecetra. But as anyone with an advanced degree who has any self-awareness will tell you, I'm still only at the beginning of figuring this all out. So please join me as I try to learn stuff!

while i was reading the book, i couldnt help but notice the similarities the narrative had with 'The Catcher In The Rye' and you beginning with it, just made me feel so content and the fact that your name is holden 😭😭 im sorry this is so vague but books like this completely encapsulates my feelings and thoughts so much so that everything seems like a facade. im sorry for ranting lol.

I recently found a list of books ive been wanting to read that i made a year ago by going through TH-cam videos and finding book reviews, One of those books was No Longer Human by osamu dazai and i was completely blown away by this novel and it has become one of my favorite novels thus far, So i looked into seeing what other books he has written and found The Setting sun and just finished that, So i wanted to read Schoolgirl next and you were the only review i found on this book so thank you for that, i am waiting in anticipation to read this book, Great review by the way!
Thank you! I think if you liked No Longer Human you'll love this book too as I find them to be very thematically similar. I also noticed nobody else is really talking about this one which is crazy to me because I think it deserves as much hype as NLH. But I'm glad you found this helpful!
