In solo drafting why not create 4 piles of 4, 3, 2, 1 cards and pick 1 from each deck, ie like you would if it was with more players and you also get benefit of seeing more cards

Wow! The discarding down to three lands is tough but being able to have 2 herbivores without overgrazing is a huge bonus! Thanks for calling out those misses.

Great playthrough. I just received my copy, and I’ve played it a few times myself. I noticed a couple of things: First, according to the rules, after resolving the effects of a major extinction event, “all players make Land cards in play go extinct until there are 3 or less left.” (Page 9, column 2). I missed this myself the first couple of plays. Also, the overgrazing rule doesn’t come into play unless the number of herbivore cards minus the number of carnivore cards in play is MORE than 2 (page 5, column 2). So if the difference is exactly 2, you’re still fine.

The special action for idea tokens doesn’t let you boost a comic multiple time if I’m not mistaken.

You don’t replenish the cards on display (writer/artist/original comics) until the end of the round. I believe you missed a couple of things on fans for the Automa’s printed comics. The Automa also add points for the round they are in. I think you should also be giving the Automa fans for the mastery tokens. Each of the ones in the first round should have been 5.

try making notes before yakking instead of this disjointed repetitive blather that makes it sound like you are unsure of what's going on....organize your thoughts to minimize the skipping around syndrome.

I believe the game was so easy for you because you played four rounds. The rules state you play three rounds when you're playing solo.

Just got it set up for my first game and it's nice to be able to watch a play through before I start. Just an observation, but the brim of your hat blocks a decent amount of the board. I'd suggest either trying to get your camera extended further and more zoomed in to the board, not wearing a hat, or maybe leaning back just out of camera view. I enjoyed the play though.

Sadly, you can't leave a defender in an action space (as you did with the medic at 18:18). I hope all is well with you and your family, and I look forward to seeing more of your playthroughs. Thanks!

You only get +2 morale for defending the walls by placing 4 SOLDIERS in the defensive positions; you placed 3 soldiers and a volunteer...

Repair comes after the fire artillery step, so if you have enough workers in repair, you can "plan" on repairing the gun if it jams. If you roll a 6, that frees up a repair action for gun 2, or any defensive positions you have left. While you have "extra" defenders, I would spam shovel snow, fear/doubt, and morale. Take advantage of the snow marker moving, and keep that morale up!

Liked and subscribed. Thanks for your playthrough! I just received my copy on Monday, and only managed to play through the first day of 1st Attack. I'm sorry you had to injure 2 defenders on the very first round; that can really affect your action economy. Mathematically, on the very first recruit draw, there are 2 doubt tokens and 18 defenders, so I went for broke and was able to draw 4 defenders on the first day. I immediately went for bolster, inspire, and repair: your defense basically substitutes for defenders in your defensive positions, so the higher you can get it early, the better. Morale helped me immensely through every round where it was high, as every high morale card is helpful, especially for supplies and feeding your tired workers. Repair frees up those defensive position slots, and I used some on the artillery as well to free up both guns; don't overlook the fact that one of the targets gives you +2 morale. I never saw any hunters, but I had enough workers throughout my 4 days to shovel snow, although I never got any permanent actions (I found water, a generator, and extra tools, all of which helped in their own way). I think the best play is to keep your defensive positions open until the end of the coup, as placing 4 soldiers in there at the end of that turn will give you +4 morale (you won't need any soldiers in there anyway until then, and you CAN send tired soldiers to the walls without any penalty). By the time the German soldiers hit the map, I had 4 soldiers on the walls and my defense was maxed out (at 3?) I did have to promote once because I just kept drawing volunteers; good for supplies, but that's about it. I managed to send and retrieve 1 supply token from the depot, and then patrols and suspicion got in the way, and I kept finding better things to do with my defenders. Seems expensive to open new routes, but depending on the board state, I might go for the soldiers or morale tokens. Anyway, that's my experience so far. I am very excited about playing through a whole game, and I look forward to your next video. In summary, morale pays high dividends, and you definitely want to make your way to sending 4 soldiers to the walls at the end of Day 3. Thanks again!

A few comments : 08:04 - the special masks are not to be shuffled with the discovery tiles. You can only get them on the Empire board. 14:30 - the major discovery tiles count as discovery tiles except for counting and manipulating ; you cannot claim a non-mask major discovery tile with Quetzalcohuātl 21:45 - the Shaman only gets the benefit of the space you put it on, not from both spaces of the Altar (as noted at 24:12) 22:20 - the Mask Collection tile of the bot can only take masks from the action tiles, not from the temples 25:20 - After a Mask Collection action, the bot doesn't move a worker 29:34 - The lowest powered worker, in case of a tie, is the closest to the Palace (tile 1); you don't get to choose or pick at random (I don't know why he chose that one on the Construction tile) 31:30 - When you put a disc on a technology, all other players already on that tech get 3 VP 34:45 - When taking "any resource", you cannot usually take obsidian. You can, because of technology 1½. The bot cannot. The bot would take the least it has among gold, stone, or wood. 35:45 - The special ability from the orange temple on the bottom does not give you a cocoa when taking the action on boards 2,3,4. It reduces the cost of taking that action by 1 cocoa, with a minimum of 0. It's unfortunate they used the same iconography as the one on tech 07. They should have gone for something more similar to tech 15. 36:40 - You're not supposed to move two direction tiles down. You're correctly moving the top one down. What you're not doing correctly is you have to flip it over so that it points in the opposite direction next time you use it. 39:36 - Correct. The bot does not advance on the orange temple. He is supposed to never get to the top of that temple. 39:45 - We just said 10 seconds ago he does not advance on that temple. Well, you didn't give it the 8 points anyway, so it doesn't matter unless you reach the top of that temple yourself. 42:08 & 45:50 - It's not evident why you chose to push the bot's warrior to the highest region. The normal way is to randomly pick a Path tile to select one of the four regions. 50:00 - Mastery again? Looks like you forgot to move the bot tiles two turns ago. 58:50 - It isn't easy to see, and I didn't track it, but if the bot has obsidian, you add it to the wood to check if it has enough resources to perform its action. 1:00:16 - When the bot does the Worship action, it moves only one worker, the one locked on the Worship space. 1:05:20 - Except for the right-most, a region cannot be occupied by two warriors. Putting a blue warrior on the Teotihuacan region would push the yellow warrior to one of the four adjacent regions (selected by a random Path tile). It could end up on the region where there is a blue warrior, who would be pushed to the next region to the right. 1:07:45 - A displaced Shaman does not get any benefit from the Altar it ends on. 1:09:55 - I, too, skipped the second scoring step for my first eclipse: the player(s) most advanced on the pyramid track get 4 VP. 1:10:30 - One scoring is missing: 1/2/3/5 VP per warrior on the first/second/third/fourth region on the Empire Board. 1:16:30 - For the Alchemy action, if the bot cannot perform the main action, it powers up its weakest worker, not the strongest, and doesn't move it. Also, its strongest worker would be the one on the Conquest (6) Board (highest value, farthest from the Mansion (1) clockwise on a tie) 1:19:05 - You forgot to take the benefit from the Orange Temple: power up one worker 1:22:02 - The bot never ends its move on the Palace/Mansion (1) Board. It skips that board when advancing a worker. 1:50:12 - Huixtocihuatl's power only triggers on a roll of 6, 7, or 8. Not on a 4. 1:55:44 - "He's all over the place" because it receives too much obsidian and you chose to distribute its warriors all over the place. I think the Path tiles are there to avoid that. 1:58:05 - As for other Action tiles, the bot doesn't take the value or number of its workers into account. If it has two wood and a worker on Board 6, it should place two warriors on the Empire board, then use the two woods to build. 2:00:45 - That tile does not work like that. If you want to advance three times on the temple, you have to pay three times the price. 2:03:42 - You're not going to lose any VP for not paying for your workers, thanks to that ability on the orange temple.

I mostly agree with your assessments, and after having played a number of those with you, there are two I’d want to add: Strasbourg and Cryptid. Strasbourg’s bidding mechanism is a great driver for what amounts to a decent game. Cryptid doesn’t really hit a lot of what we don’t already have in our collection, but it does it so well. Simple rules, easy gameplay, and for an abstract it isn’t incredibly hideous. Great video!

Just played my preview copy of Unconscious Mind tonight with some friends and we had a fantastic time! A few wrinkles to iron out yet, I would say, but there are so many extremely clever ideas woven into this game! It's brilliant! 🧠 (And very beautiful, as you mentioned!) 🎨

Tnx for the playthrough guys! Great. just some problems with the end gaming scoring for the coöps. First (majority) is 16 points, 2nd is 8 points and 3rd gets 4 points. For example: with 2 the majority? 16+8= 24/2= 12 for each player. 3rd gets 4 points.

Nice video. Glad to see Teo videos. Ive played a lot on BGA and was number 1 for a while. Some things were good. But i think you need to think about efficiency. I never build the pyramid before buying at least one of the techs that give you a bonus for them. Cocoa is great as beginning tiles, ut you missed gold, as well as the position. I always try to get cocoa, gold, and a position where i can buy a tech as my first move.

Very nice. Regarding the bot's Toth action at 11:02 I think it takes cards in the highest segment possible. Therefore he would take the 2 techs and the leftmost blessing in the red segment, not 3 techs from red and yellow. Or am I mistaken?
