I true legend in radio i listen to him for years God bless shotgun tom
Hello Art, Great pod cast........you sound strong ......let's talk about TV and production in Las Vegas. thanks Ron
I love this!! Thanks so much for sharing it! KNX-FM was my favorite station back in the day...they played the best mix of music! I'm a night owl, so they were perfect for me to relax with. ❤
Get the book, it's Tom's full story. I've known Tom since 1965 and the story is fascinating.
❤
There are no upcoming videos for Wesley Hyatt ahymorer. What happened?
A couple of minor points, during Goen's era they actually lowered the vowel price to $100, and the original round 1 wheel in 1975 DID have $50 and $75 spaces and even a single $25 space, but these disappeared along with the infamous buy a vowel space later in the year and the minimum amount on the wheel rose to $100.
Rolf had Crohn's disease. And he admitted in E! True Hollywood Story that he only watched Wheel in snippets
Makes me mad they passed on a revival of Concentration with a third hour of The Today Show
I thought they replaced Wheel and Classic Concentration with One on one with John Tesh
Lin Bolen went to work with of all people FRED SILVERMAN in the early 80s! After Fred left NBC and started his own company.
I wonder if Mark Goodson ad Bob Barker, seeing how NBC had done The Doctors and Another World as a hour, thought "Maybe we should try The Price is Right as an hour?" It worked for Price unlike The Doctors and you know the rest.
Started with the networks expanding soaps
@@jwgreek8606 I'd say Goodson when he saw The Doctors and Another World as an hour, felt he'd try it with Price. While it did not work for The Doctors, it did for AW and Price.
That is what happened during Johnny's finale what she is talking about
Randy West would confirm the Scrabble set cost money and he would tell you TBE story when the cube went haywire
Um ... Josh, TTD never taped at NBC
NBC should have let Jimmy Connors do both tennis and host Wheel
Mom and pop store would be the best bet. Because it would be the complete book. Amazon does their own publishing and do not buy complete books from publishers
Nancy was in fact a chaperone on The Dating Game
They travelled during the Pat and Susan years too. It's,sad hardly any of those episodes are on the trading circuit
Wait Chuck tried to replace Pat on the daytime version?
I think Sony was looking at doing a kids version of it a while back.
It was in 1997-98 and it was called Wheel of Fortune 2000. And Wesley, if I was on the show I would have gladly talked to you
Peter Tomarken clashed with Merv on the use of the midget
Also Chuck inadverently called Stoppers Bankrupts in the early years of Scrabble and he got to calling Red Balls "Stoppers" on Lingo
Dying to know how old he is, since she didn't answer...
Four years old.
How come the page uniform is going to the strong museum she just did not work game shows ya knows. Ahe worked Johnny Carson, and other shows
Randy West said wardrobe was the least of the strong's focuses yet Shelly's page uniform is being displayed. I would live to see Rod Roddy's flashy jackets in the Strong Museum
*love
Josh,I am ready for your Jack Barry book to come and that JW stuff should go to the Strong Museum
Rich Fields has a bunch of stuff from PIR. I wish he would donate it to the Strong. Especially Johnny and God's old podium
Terrific interview! Thanks for plugging MY PEACOCK TALE: SECRETS OF AN NBC PAGE, fellas!
There was a paperback book about WOF circa Spring-Summer 1987 by Sams and Shook. It came out shortly before the nighttime version went to all cash.
From Fall 1996-Summer 1998, there was the Friday finals where the top three winners came back on Friday. Returning champions didn't start on the nighttime version until 9/4/1989 and ended in June 1996. Vanna did the 90s-00s WOF computer games a few times but not Pat. The technology was there a decade WOF bought in the non-manual board, as Million DOllar Chance of a LIfetime and Scrabble were hangman-like games where the letters appeared electronically, without a model :) Harry Friedman took over as producer on the show late in the 1994-95 season, replacing Nancy Jones. He took over J! producer reins starting in Fall 1997, taking over from George VOsburgh
The studios should have concessions
They have snacks and water and drinks and a meal setup for the contestants but not the audience and how about some soda in the mix for the audience heyL
MG Kelly should have been the host of Daytime Wheel after Pat left to do his talk show. After all, that announcing gig was only temporary
He went back after his commitments to Barris were fulfilled
MG Kelly, Dean Goss, and Rich Fields all worked on KODJ in the Late 80s/early 90s
Ellen is Charlie's widow's name
Wish he would have talked with Johnny Gilbert. Would love to see more of his episodes of Wheel in circulation
So Vanna writes the puzzles huh? You know Alex is the boop boop hoop guy
Boop boop boop damn autocorrect crb
So you're going to leave us hanging ?
It’s disappointing that only Susan was willing to talk to Wesley about the book.
Don’t forget Jack Clark snd I think MG should have gotten the job to succeed Pat after he left to do his talk show. Also, after Charlie O died they should have kept his voice on the shows he worked on just before his death and had Pat and Vanna do the wheel watchers stuff. Like they did the fee plugs after Jack Clark died. Completely replacing his voice was an insult to the man’s hard work and legacy.
Looked up Rick’s church snd he was on Pyramid, Match Game, and Bowling for Dollars
Scott Hostetler whom I hope you interviewed who later appeared on multiple other game shows including PYL and Whammy was going to be on his honeymoon and went by an electronics shop and paid the guy to tape his episode of Wheel
On Pat’s very first episode which was a teen week a snot nosed kid decided to buy all the prizes in the section instead of the hot tub. Which led to a long announcing copy marathon for poor Jack Clark. I acquired the episode in the summer of 02 and i fast forwarded through his long marathon.
SNL snd Wheel comparisons Both premiered on NBC in 1975 Sony produces Wheel Sony produced the upcoming movie on SNL’s first episode called Saturday night
I happen to like the shopping part
*Lemonis
I would love to go to the archives at UCLA to see The Family Game pilot from 1986 and the Stop the Music pilot from 1988. And Nancy Glass and Marcus Lemon is own the Hatos-Hall library. Fremantle just produces LMAD
