Question: is the KTM 520 SXF Reliable as an Adventure Bike ?!!
Take a look on www.advrider.com as there is a huge amount of information regarding using these bikes as dual sport and overland bikes. Essentially, if you are using the bike for longer sustained high-speed road work, this could overheat the oil as they only hold about 1.2 litres. This would cause lubrication failure to the gearbox teeth, allowing swarf into the lubrication system. This is the reason for fitting oil coolers and increasing the quantity of oil . All that said, as long as you don't ride on motorways at 80mph all day long,and change the oil at 20/25 hrs, or per 100 litres fuel or around 750 to 1000 miles it should be fine. It goes without saying that you should use decent oil on these bikes

They stopped making the KMX125 in 2003 so you will have to look around on the Internet for second hand bikes. You could try motorcycles.cari.ph/motorcycles/amp/kawasaki-kmx-125 or other similar sites.

These are probably the best 125 of the 80’s made by any manufacturer. I had a red & white one in 1987 when I was 17, 2nd bike after a Suzuki ts125. The rd was a revelation. Absolutely amazing bike. Mine did 20 in first, 40 in second and 60 in third gear, then tailed off at about 80. But the acceleration was astounding for a 125. The tuning and the micron and the k & n filter all helped. Unfortunately I became a statistic and crashed it and wrecked it completely. The loss of that bike bothers me to this day. I had the time of my life on that bike Age 17 and I’ve always wanted another one.....

I have one. The European version from 1978 with 2ps and orange colour. Very similar to the one at 0:45, but with space for 2 people at the seat.
