CSX is removing loads of contaminated dirt from Allston via the former Beacon Park. They are not reopening Beacon Park as a full yard like in the past.

I used the callsign which was TAM, though I suppose the airline goes by LATAM so perhaps that was more appropriate.

Probably not that far - Route 9 is about 1.75 miles from the south end of the yard. I don't think this train is that long.

The two tracks they use to load/empty the dirty dirt cars are actually new. They built it over the summer. The rest I believe is original trackage.

2:30-4:30AM, again. I don't think it came on Tuesday or Wednesday morning. I highly doubt it's going to come tonight or Monday morning.

@@Readvilleswitcher Actually they did come this morning according to the scanner, though a bit earlier than usual (around 1:40AM)

Actually they might have left at 1:40AM, meaning they came even earlier.

@@ReadvilleswitcherI heard them switching at 1AM and they were already gone when I went down at 1:30AM. If so it means they’re coming earlier nowadays (probably arriving around 11-11:30PM)

Came in around 2:30 and left around 4:30.

Sometime before or around 2AM. I was biking down Market St around then and saw a flashing red FRED to the east (past Boston Landing) when crossing the Pike, and I went to Beacon Park around 3:30AM.

Heard on the scanner that "there's a freight moving east out of Framingham" right now from the Framingham/Worcester scanner.

Y301 just arrived at CP 6 at 2:29AM with 6219 in the lead (again according to the scanner)

Thanks! Yeah this catch was pure luck (I happened to be biking over the Pike at 2AM and saw the signals lit up and a FRED flashing, so I went and grabbed my gear and headed over.) Thankfully I don’t live far from Beacon Park, but I definitely paid for it in getting minimal sleep on a weeknight so I don’t wish to repeat the experience😅

@@AnotherBostonRailfan Haha I felt the same way when I saw it a few weeks ago, I don't want to say up for it again. I even tried to get some sleep while they were working the yard. I see that Y301 ran again early this morning. 9 cars in and they pulled out 2 loads.

@@BostonBeaconPark Huh, it's running surprisingly often. Just heard on the scanner that "there's a freight moving east out of Framingham" from the foreman on the Framingham/Worcester scanner (there appears to be an MBTA job running between CP Cove and CP 3 in Allston until 4:30AM, and they were informed that there would also be a freight job). So we have Monday morning, Tuesday morning, and Thursday morning so far this week for runs.

@@AnotherBostonRailfan It is good to see all the action. Y301 has handled 31 cars in beacon park this week. It's possible they may go tonight/Friday. They are 2 empties in Framingham. If not, they will do it on Monday morning

​@@BostonBeaconPark They're running again this morning. Arrived at CP 6 at 2:07AM and got Rule 241 to go past the stop signal. 6219 is the lead engine again. I'm not hearing any EOT chirps unlike last night so they might have entered light engines (this is all from the scanner - I live not too far from the Framingham-Worcester line so I can just listen to my scanner in my room. I can also hear one-way radio traffic from the dispatcher to DOBO/BODO, but not from the train to the dispatcher - BODO seems to leave Boston around this time)

The beach can get a bit crowded. It's a free beach, and I think the parking is free as well. I've always taken the Blue Line or biked to that beach though.
