Beautiful and amazing quilts! Thank you for taking the time to record and produce the slideshow.
Thank you so much for the beautiful quilt show pics. I always enjoy seeing the quilts at all the shows you attend and have a booth at.

It was amazing to see in person, you would have loved it. I wish I could have given it the time it deserved when I was looking at the exhibit. It's so much to take in! I'm glad you liked the video, it's almost like being there. Thanks for the comment.

I loved sharing that video! and yes, I too am in awe of Nancy's talent. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and thank you for your comment.
Absolutely gorgeous!
I loved this video! So helpful!! Very real with the situation!!
I purchased this #31018 - shipped/received quickly, love it. Which glue dots do you use, (many of them out there)? Love the quilt you're working on, can't wait to see how you quilt it!😊
I used the glue dots that I got so long ago that I couldn't even tell you what they were. Today, I have a preference for these dots called nano dots. They can be cleaned and reused if they lose their stickiness, and they hold great. Holding down the stencil is not even close to what they are capable of holding. A search on Amazon for nano dots will bring them up. They're about $5 for over 300 of them. Have you made any HST with your new stencil? I quilted that quilt with 60037 - splash of love, overall pattern. It turned out great, I gave it to a new mama for her baby. I'll have to put a picture of it on the listing for that stencil.
Very cool!
That is awesome! Love it 🤩
Wow! So simple, but where has this been all my life? Love all your stencils!
Thank you!

Thanks for this video. I just learned about pounce powder. Can't believe I never knew it existed 🤯.
OMGosh! I'm glad you found us!
Can you hand quilt with these? In other words can you mark your quilt with these stencils and then hand quilt it?
Yes! Hand quilting in a frame or hoop is best.
Looks awesome and sound easy can’t wait to try it thanks
Have fun!
Hello. What a lovely quilt video. I love it very much. In my country Finland we quilt also. Maybe their themes are different from your country. Thank you. Have good day. Matti

Does the hairspray gum up your needle at all?
Thanks for the question. It didn't gum up the needle at all for me. I don't put that much on, and it quickly evaporates holding the chalk in place in the process. I also think when you press the stencil to help the hairspray keep it from moving, after you lift it off, any residue from excess hairspray is now on the stencil. That residue can be cleaned off easily should it become an issue. I've not seen that with the hairspray, but I have seen it when I've used stronger adhesives like basting sprays.
Thank you.
Hi there, I've been using this method for a couple of years now. I've never had any type of build up on the longarm needle or the fabric. I use a lint brush after quilting and the Chalk comes right off with lint brush, but doesn't bounce off with hopper foot on longarm. You can always wash the quilt after binding it, and the ultimate irons off also
how do you get the marks off when you use the hair spray? And how to get the hair spray off?
In the case of that particular quilt, I did nothing by way of removing chalk or hairspray. It wasn't necessary. If it was, washing the quilt or ironing of the chalk would work. The hairspray has long evaporated. I noticed no residue from it
Love it!
Is there a trick to not making a mess when refilling? You did a good job but I have not had success not making a lot of dust…sad to say.
I think if there is any trick, it would be that you fold the bag in the center of the ziplock. Don't try to pour it from the end. It's hard to explain, but if you watch the video again at 2:26 minutes, watch closely, and you'll see. If I were to pour from the cut of the zipper the chalk doesn't flow as well and could get hung up and then suddenly come out in a large clump rather than a steady stream that you can control easier. I hope this makes sense! Some people also have told me they use a spoon; that might be a method worth trying, too. Thanks for the question!
I just found your stencils and must say I love them!
Yay! Thank you!
You solved my problem exactly. I now know not to over chalk my stencil - thank you!
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching the video!
Beautiful video! Thanks for all your encouragement and hard work!
Thank you Laurel, for your kind words. When I was in Houston I saw a billboard that read "Don't give up! Rise Up!" it's kind of my thing now. I'm so glad we're friends❤
Love your new saying! I'm glad we are friends also 🤗
If use basting spray/hairspray, then chalking stencil, does iron still remove iron-off chalk? Also, if using this method, any problems with stickiness remaining on quilt needle/iron? Definitely see using method as a game changer! Thanks for sharing!
I'm not sure I can say across the board there won't be any stickiness, especially with basting sprays. I've tried several different brands of basting spray though and have yet to see it as an issue. There was a bit of tackiness once but it actually helped my gloves grip the fabric even better so I saw it as a plus. And washing it removed all residue. As for ironing off the chalk when using the basting spray, I don't know if it will be okay. The iron-off chalk stays on so nicely that I haven't tried using the basting spray with it. I have used hairspray, though and you can iron off the chalk when you use it. Make sure it's dry by the time you iron. That's how it's always been for me so I can't speak to ironing over damp hairspray. I would avoid it. It is a game changer for the color chalk for sure, and they are the ones that could use that extra adhesion so it's a perfect match! Thanks for the question!

thanks for the tip. I just used this stencil on a quilt that I made for a quilt I am donating to an animal rescue group and it worked great
Wonderful! Thanks for the feedback :)
love that idea. did not see the link in the description?
Did you mean the link for the pattern? It's in there now. Maybe you saw it by now. I need to fix my TH-cam comments notifications! Sorry about that late reply and thanks for your comment.
I only Longarm a few times a year. Full Line Stencils along with Marilyn’s advise in her newsletters has really helped me become more confident and enjoy longarming with my shoulders down and relaxed.
Thanks for sharing!! I'm glad you're finding the newsletters helpful!
What heat setting is used on the iron?
Set your iron to a medium heat setting. I've used it at a linen setting before but it can be too hot on that setting. Something below cotton is about right, you can always turn it up if you need to. Irons vary, just stay away from a very high setting and keep your iron moving.
Thanks! This is a good slow way to show the stitch path so we can see it. Brilliant! 😘
Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm glad you like it.
that is amazing - I often like the stencil but can not figure out how to navigate it
I'm so glad you find this easy-to-produce illustration effective. Thanks so much for your feedback!
Your video was very helpful to me. Thank you for sharing.
I'm so glad!
I just found your website and ordered 2 stencils and a pad. Thank you for making this video.
You're so welcome - thank you for your order and your feedback!
Thank you
When you are rubbing back and forth, how does the stencil not move when you pounce towards the direction of your hand? How does the stencil not move?
Thank you for the boost of confidence!
Very good to see that! Thank you ❣
💗💓 Thank you! Great video - confidence builder for a beginner quilter like myself. 💗
Marilyn, what is the board you put under the tshirt quilt to give it stability for marking?
Would love to see a demo of using the stencils on a multi-colored patchwork quilt on a longarm.
I appreciate that suggestion. I'm thinking, what do I have coming up? hmmm I have my quilt about done that has 29 pieces per 9" block, multi-color, but a lot of the background is white. It could be a good candidate. If not, I will get something together because I agree, that it would be very beneficial. You might check out the quilt I have a video of in the meantime th-cam.com/video/AGFxSO_zFKE/w-d-xo.html it's very multicolored but not an intense patchwork of quilting. Have you seen it?
How did you keep the chalk from rubbing off? Hair spray? This is a great idea to divide a large border into different designs.
Thank you for asking that! I forgot to mention, I did spray over the chalk with my Best Press.
Whatever about making a pencil in blue for lite fabrics?
We had a blue water erase pen but ran out and we're having a hard time reordering them. We will keep trying.
Brilliant mind that came up with the underneath support 👍👍😄
Thank you Marion, you are too kind. The truth is a problem solver with lots of problems to practice on came up with that idea.
Did you change feet to do ruler work?
I did not. I thought about it afterward. I think it would be safer to get that thicker foot on. That was the first time I used a ruler on that machine. It's one I have for my long arm. I never thought I was in danger of hitting the ruler although I'm sure it could happen. My scariest moments were a few times when I put it right up next to the needle and caught myself! Kind of like putting the ruler right next to the blade of your rotary cutter - seemed intuitively correct. Next time I'm going to change to a different foot. Thanks for writing, it was a good question.
