The mission of the Marco Island Historical Society is to preserve and to share the history and heritage of Marco Island and the surrounding community. The Marco Island Historical Society (MIHS), founded in 1994, is dedicated to discovery, research, acquisition and preservation of the multi-faceted history of the Marco Island-Goodland region to share with future generations.
The museum campus, through its unique “Windows & Doors to History” outdoor gallery, presents 10,000 years of Marco Island’s history from the pre-Calusa period through life of the Calusa Indians and the pioneer days of the early settlers to what it has become today.
Three permanent exhibit galleries, The Calusa Period, The Pioneer Era and Modern Marco provide an interactive experience with state-of-the-art technology. An ever-changing gallery showcasing a vast variety of artistic works in all mediums, and a museum gift shop offers a wide range of unique items.

Audiences will learn about Walt Disney’s contributions to animation, film, and the theme park and his impact on the history of Florida. A sub-theme of the presentation is the relationship between high art and popular culture, as exemplified by the Disney Studio and Walt Disney World.

I have been fascinated by the Key Marco Cat since I was either given or I bought ( I don't remember which) a sterling silver pendant of the cat. It's about 4mm or 1 3/4 inches tall. It's extremely well made & detailed with an incorperated loop at the back so it can be worn as a pendant. It's very heavy but very beautiful. Your lecture has given more information on the actual statue than any other source I have found. Thank you for your time & details about this fascinating artifact.
