I wonder if you made an error in playing Whiff of Grapeshot and taking the 2P and not paying the 3G, which you were unable to pay anyway. Under 8.1.2 sub par "Costs", I think you might have had to eithher pay the 3G or discard the card. Then if this was a non mandatory card, you would draw another card. I'm new to the game and may be in left field. Very useful playthrough and the music is rather nice. Moving along, on the Combat DRM of 2 for a Defeat, I think you forgot to subtract the -1 DRM (for the previous Stalemate, I believe). Your thoughts are welcome.
@msundborg They are available at the game's page at GMT. I just sent them to the UPS print store selecting thick paper and then cut with scissors which was a pain.
23:30. Ambush still occurs. Lost Contact sections/fighters are only the first priority. If nothing is lost contact, a fighter in the bomber formation is targeted.
Really enjoying the play through, I have an observation on rules point. When doing step 1 set up phase, you look like you are adding resources from cards which should only happen when you are first consul (e.g. Talleyrand & Fouché) or have I not understood the context of the cards?
18:40. Bomber card was 'return fire', Rudder 10 hit was applied, return fire would have been Lost Contact. So he wouldn't have gone down in the Channel.
@happyman050 Yep. Really the only time I'm adamant about ditching a card with NL is when it's a card that adds extra rounds to the campaign. Otherwise, I tend to just let the macro history, good or bad, just play out.
Thanks for this series. My copy arrived last week and I'm on my second playthrough. (The first one ended feebly with no glory and not even having been promoted to full general, but let's not mention that)! Great game!
I think using Strategy Cards is better than using Commanders. You get the same modufiers and No chance of losing Commanders. Massena retired. He was old. Campaigns were taking a toll.
The card for Typhus says "Treat the /First Non-Bloody Result/ as bloody" (emphasis mine). Since you had a bloody victory against Spain, that's technically NOT a Non-Bloody Result, so wouldn't Typhus stay in play until you had a non-Bloody result? If this is addressed later, feel free to ignore this comment. Loving the playthrough. Thanks so much for doing it.
Thanks Scott, really enjoyed and appreciated these videos. My copy of the game is on it's way to the Washington coast from Michigan, for which i blame/thank you! You are right about just enjoying the experience and making nudges to influence the outcome. This is a very similar model to another new release I just received and played from Nac Wargames in Spain - El Rey Planeta. It lets one follow and manage the reign of Phillip IV in Spain in the 17h century - highly recommended!
I like these videos,100% you have potential. Though while I like the intimate vibe but some cutting with silences and lipsticks would greatly add to video without radically change the vibe. Good luck in all future adventures.
I am glad you have many commanders. The more you have the better when in wars which will be many. Using Admin and Glory to get the most will help in multiple round battles.
It's an intriguing little game you got there. I may not watch this in its entirety but I do love seeing folk enjoy a simple fun hobby like this. :) God bless
I don't often get to post the first comment, so here goes! What a nail biter, and how are the mighty fallen! Great fun. Makes me want this game even more - unfortunately it doesn't go on sale in the UK till early October, so patience will have to be a virtue!
Useful and enjoyable playthrough. I like the mixture of crossing your fingers added to a measure of agency - reminds me of the submarine solo games. It's convinced me to buy this when it becomes available from my usual UK supplier (still on pre-order at the moment)! I've also subscribed to grab any further videos.
An oddly historical war of the 4th Coalition, ironically. How strange a timeline this is, will have to rewatch to understand how everything has shaken out.

Great vid….how did you construct your cards…they look great

@@stuartauld3193 Ahh. Yes, I forgot.
Tired of your annoying and distracting soundtrack. Stopped watching and unsubscribed.
The soundtrack continues to suck, be irritating, and distracting. I stopped watching.
Your soundtrack sucks. It adds nothing, is distracting and annoying.
Your fricking background music is extremely distracting and annoying.😊
The opera singing was incredibly irritating, and since it went on throughout, I stopped listening. I hope the other episodes are not like this.
I believe you have to use one commander for anti-French revolts! Tried to look it up, but no definitive ruling.
6.20. He's lost. Next dogfight is single, not section.
random event was a 6
@@stevemellan1343 Oops!
Tough day 😢
4:45. Bombs dropped didn't roll for the Sun moving. I used to do it all the time. Therefore might not have got 2 die from out of sun on the flank.
Yep. Thanks

28:55 There is no sun. I do that all the time. Probably won't matter.
D'oh!
Dont know if you catch it. You get a VP for the collision.
I think I counted it. Can't recall for sure
you can use napoleons luck to discard a bad card drawn and redraw. That could have been used on Tsar Alexander card

Congrats! How about Skies Above Britain? Battle of Britain
@kennethhendrickson2865 Funny you should mention that...😆

Prussia Rises enhances the Blucher card. That's why it needs to be placed in Prussia.
Watch your Strategy Cards. You have several that will help you. Old Guard might come in Handy. Also Surgeon Larray. Looks like every year on Campaign.
Does Spanish Ulcer force St. Cyr to make a wounded roll?
@OntarioRimrunner Oops! You don't roll for wounds, you automatically discard an IC on failure! Overlooked this rule!

Thanks. When the campaign ends, all campaign modifiers are discarded or removed.
@@ScottgunsShack Ah, okay. Cool. Thank you for the response.
1:20. Eugene goes in the deck, not in Commanders box.

Keeping up to date on this, as my copy of the game arrives tomorrow (Fri 6th Sept)! Good things come to those that wait 😊
At 17:07 I think it was a bloody defeat (not a defeat) because of the drm -1
I thought Russia gets leaders in their fight?

At the start up period you can use 1 P the get an additional A.
Grand Battery was put in Combat Modifiers, and discarded. You should have put it in Strategy and Tactics.
@@stuartauld3193 Thanks. Will check out and correct.
Nice battle!

Ahhh, tape. A wave of nostalgia hits me 😊
When you did the Imperial Plebiscite card, you were supposed to take -2 A first, but you did -2 P instead
@@rwhinkle1 You're right! Good thing I had 2A at the time!
And Haïti Campaign was a failure because of the -1DRM you forgot ;)
@@vickthor2599 Yep.
Think you should have waited. Play the Campaign of Italy. Lets hope for the best.
I think Fouche and Talleyrand both only grant/take resources once FCD is in effect?
Looking fun!🎉

Apparently the La Patrie en Danger campaign is tha campaign for the following year. Confirmed by Ted on bgg.

You should have rolled for Junot to see if he is wounded at the end of the campaign. You always do this for any commanders you assign.
You're right! Thanks.

@datcat8451 Yes. The game can go all over the place story wise.
