Multiphonic Exercises to Build Control

Practicing multiphonics can help build control of the embouchure and voicing, which in turn helps make your ‘normal’ playing much more consistent.

IS this different from the base clarinet? Looks the same.
I’m playing on a bass clarinet, the solo is titled with “Low Clarinet” to include the contras as well.
Don't recommend rinsing the mouthpiece! You can ruin.
I haven’t heard of anyone ruining their mouthpiece from rinsing it with water before-what’s the basis for that?
@@pwemusic314 Sorry I was thinking about the rest of the clarinet. The mouthpiece is fine to wash, but not the rest of it! Sorry!!😃
That kinda ate
OMG THAT MUSIC IS INSANE I can't Evan do bayou brakedown
My hands are cramping... 😅 1st flute here, and I still listen to this song for fun. 🤣
What the fuck
Youve now helped me with 2 audition pieces. Thank you
Good luck with them!
@@pwemusic314 Thanks 😊
Molly sprinting across the freaking shore
😭
My eye twitched from my time playing this 😂😂😂😂
I have to practice this along with the brisk young sailor if I want to make into woodwind ensemble but I'm only a freshman and this is torture
Getting the fingers moving faster is something we all have to go through, stay focused on playing it to the best of your ability rather than comparing yourself to people who have more experience
Kmea?
🎉
14yo and I can play this clap it up
2024-2025 Region IX Etude lol
Except for bass clarinet lol
I’ve got a video back in the archives of this one on bass clarinet too 👍
@@pwemusic314 pllsssss post it lol
god bless this specific video it will save my ass in time for tmea all state
that’s the idea, good luck!
@@pwemusic314 i just wish you had etude 17 for bass and bb
Clean enough to eat off, fantastic playing and interpretation!
Thank you!
This is #10 not 12
my mistake, good catch!
That’s neat
ty 🙏
keep it up brother
will do 👊
did this song for district honor band this year and it was tough. you sound really good!!
thank you!
helppp I can flatten my pitch but can’t sharpen it😭😭
That’s alright! Embouchure/voicing position for soprano clarinet is generally “high,” as in our lips are firm and tongue is high in the back, leaving little room to tighten/raise the tongue compared to loosening/lowering, meaning it’s more difficult to make the pitch sharper. Doing so also adds tension, which we generally want to avoid. If you consistently need to raise your pitch it’s better to adjust the instrument rather than rely on physical adjustment.
I can hear the bass clarinet part too
This might be worthy of the presidents own Molly on the shore 🤣 (look up their live recording it’s insanely fast).
Thank you 🤣 that’s the one every director says “We won’t take it quite this fast…” with their fingers crossed behind their back
How is your tounging so smooth?
As an old teacher told me, “practice, practice, practice.” Work on moving just the very tip of your tongue and being as light as possible
playing this for 3 upcoming auditions, thanks for the reference of perfection. ❤❤
Thank you for the compliment, hope it helps bring you success!
Gorgeous sound
thank you!
Changes the timbre though to be very bright and not very desirable. There are alternate fingers you could put down to help the tuning and tone
Some embouchure adjustments must be made to avoid the note becoming “bright.” The register key is not a true tone hole, but we use it to produce a B-flat due to efficiency and ergonomics, the downside being a slightly more resistant note. Side key 3 is a tone hole, and so if we approach producing B-flat in the same manner it will result in a “brighter” sound. Acoustically the tone hole of side key 3 is the correct placement to allow the bore to support B-flat; as I tell my students though, use whatever fingerings you like, just make it sound good! Nothing works 100% of the time, but it’s always good to have in your toolbox.
OH MY GOD YOUR UPPER ALTISSIMO IS INSANELY BEAUTIFUL WHAA
Thank you!
Nota dez mestre.
where can i find the sheet music i lost mine
Unfortunately you’ll have to ask your band director for another copy, the solos aren’t available for general access online
Can you send me the sheet music ?
you can find this readily online, just google, that’ll be easier
@pwemusic314 Pretty sure i downloaded a virus or trojan on my phone trying to do just that. 😅 It's been acting weird, and I didn't get no sheet music.
@@yacabe why wouldn’t you just look up the pdf 😭 there are a lot of audition pdfs that have this from actual websites.
Please stand for the clarinet national anthem
