What company supplied the bins? and how much did they cost?
What happens when they take away the food caddy? do day Just emty the caddy and then leave it. & what happens if the caddy is stolen. will it be replaced by the council or do we have to buy a new one.
Most councils replace them for free
i look forward to green smelly bins ful of dirty cans and rotting milk, spilled over onto the path, where the operators dont clear it up, and of course rats and mice due to no more vermin control from the council . but nevermind, if the resident sorts all your rubbish into neat bins, theres profit which is all that matters
Do you provide the little plastic bag that goes inside the caddy? also that looked a perfectly good bit of Brocolli that he threw out.
Hey do u know that's my kitchen
Ps how about turning the street lights back on so I can dee when I'm putting my food waste in the "caddy"
Gravesham council didn't turn your street lights off. Street lights are mainly a county council (and in some cases parish council) responsibility.
Great ugly bigwheely bins all over the place And that food recycling bin gonna need plastic liners or it's going to be very manky indeed Oh yeah plastic,I thought they wanted us to stop using plastic? Still got to follow the green agenda, makes politicos feel good about themselves How about turning the street lights on so I can see when I'm putting my waste in the caddy?
Do not use plastic liners in the food caddies. They must not be contaminated in that way. The council will provide an initial supply of compostable liners which can subsequently bought from many supermarkets. Alternatively you may use newspaper BUT definitely not plastic because that would render the food waste unrecyclable.
graveshamtv Its clearly a financial agenda masked by the green agenda. The large bins are useless and probably cost a lot, I don't see why the clear bags were ruled out as they were plastic and recyclable in the first place. As for the food waste only the small bin was required. I think we should follow the money and see who's pocket it went into.
They are throwing it that's not even how you play you crap people
Well done to Gravesham council for putting on this superb St George's Day event.
Great to see all these kids celebrating their country!
England
Why get rid of the clear bag system that worked so well? Wheelie bins and caddies are just a eye sore, just look at any street in the Dartford Borough! They are bulky, difficult to move, take longer to collect and process by your trucks. We also have to remember to bring them back in off the street or they will get tipped over, stolen or vandalized by drunks and yobs, kind of difficult if you work every weekday. The brown bin scheme was a very good idea as garden waste is difficult to bag up, but with this I can't see any benefit to it other than to complicate things further, this scheme will actually reduce the amount recycled as residents won’t want to follow it. As recycled will be only collected fortnightly instead of weekly I will be forced to carry on using the clear bags then put them in the new wheelie bin as storage then on collection day take out the clear bags and put them on the street, I am not putting a wheelie bin out on a main road all day.
The clear bag system was not a success in that it produces a mere 25% recycling rate. That is the third lowest in Britain and the lowest in Kent. The target is 40%. Food waste recycling will almost double out recycling rates based on the experience of every other area.
graveshamtv So the large bins are obsolete. All that is required are the small bins for the food.
i aint recycling nothing , gravesend council have just increased council tax ... im paying for a service , i expect GBC take whatever rubbish i put out without me sorting it out . or reduce my council tax and i will recycle ...simple
You will also be paying the penalties imposed on the council for its woeful recycling rates if we don't improve from a mere 25%. The choice not to recycle is yours.
graveshamtv will you be paying me for my recyclable rubbish , as its a known fact that recycling is not about being green, its about selling rubbish to make money... well i pay to much to you as it is in council tax which i see no benefits ... no grass getting cut, parks a mess , the selling off of public spaces etc.. lack of street lighting . a one way system that is so badly designed .and a council that does NOT listen to the publics opinions.
graveshamtv you can have all the rubbish sorted yourself, and recycle 100 percent, why make the residents do it? sorting facilities exist, use them instead of just putting up prices to the tax payers
graveshamtv Interesting how threatening your reply is.. how about we stop paying council tax and knock you off your high horse. Disgusting response!!
lovely video..we are thinking of moving to the area...very nice to know about this little church!
What a shame. The Sound Man seriously let this band down!
A lovely video of a special church in Higham. Well worth a visit at any time of the year.
It made us smile from start to finish - which after all is what Christmas is all about!

Great stuff, Send out the the search party !!!!!
That's my nan right there she's a LEGEND
4 votes for, 3 votes against and 3 abstaining. Hardly a resounding vote of confidence. The deciding vote being by the partner of one of the councillors voting for the scheme.
Councillor Croxton made great pains about the possible costs that the council 'could' face if Edinburgh House took the applicatio to appeal over refusal. Then perhaps he could tell us why we are still waiting to get costs back from EH for the last appeal they had? He hasn't answered my mail. That is almost £75,000 owed to the council for over 2 years. No faith.
