The first thing that comes to my mind
when I think of 1988 is my bestie, Park Ji-hye
She was the vice president in my class
in the first year of middle school
With this song, we celebrated
the 1988 Seoul Olympics
She taught us the Mass game dance
Later, She grew up to be a cool and awesome
Korean teacher
A very proud long-term life-span friend
This song reminds me of that time
I am always grateful for you

2️⃣ 7080 Generation ✍️
For me, my parents' generation
For those in their 20s and 30s,
it's the generation of grandparents
They wanted to take care of their children,
so, they stopped all the dreams
what they really wanted to do
Children's studies and family support
The generation
who gave everything in their lives
When I think of my parents
The word, devotion comes to my mind first

3️⃣ Chocolate & Gum ✍️
Now that I'm middle-aged 49,
I'm thinking about my teeth
I don't really like sweets though
When I was a kid, I really loved sweets
I went to see a dentist
and got this decayed tooth treated
I still remember this memory
South Korea in ruins after the Korean War
Was there chocolate, candy, and gum?
Back then, my parents' generation,
those in their 70s and 80s
They didn't eat sweet things that
they craved most when they were young
It's the most pitiful generation I reckon
a five-year-old girl begging
with open arms & hands
She looked so pitiful. so just threw it from

One chocolate
How delicious would it had been?
4️⃣ Security Insensitivity ✍️
By the time,
when I was over 30 and in the middle of 30s
At some point,
political talk started to come out with drinking
Why elders are telling me
not to talk about politics or religions
There was a time
when I got to know the reasons little by little
What war? There's no war!
Where are spies these days?
They were mocking at me like this
I don't even contact them anymore
I felt there are lots of spies, don't you?
With this incident,
I realised again how important
it is to eliminate anti-state forces and
how important
the S.Korea🇰🇷-🇺🇸U.S. alliance is
Fortunately,
more people in their 20s and 30s woke up
About the future of liberal democracy

5️⃣ Patriotism ✍️
I didn't know when I lived in South Korea
Some people said that
If you live abroad, you'll become a patriot
I agree it seems to me that I'll become a patriot
Even I was happy and delighted
to watch the news of the country
where I was born
I became an Australian 🇦🇺
I am an Australian citizen now
I'm not a S.Korean citizen though
S.Korea does not allow dual citizenship
I went to the military service
for 26 months in S.Korea
after completing civil defense duty though
Australian who born in Oz always ask me
Where are you originally from?
From their point of view,
I'm just an Asian man
with black hair and black eyes
I'm just Korean 🇰🇷
If you live abroad,
Left or right? Which region are you from
people don't even ask
It's just which country you're from
that comes first
It's something
I've never felt when I lived in S.Korea
These unique situations
and different perspectives
Among S.Korean residents living abroad
I'm sure
there won't be people without patriotism
6️⃣ North Korea ✍️
I don't need long words. I'm simple
People who like North Korea
should go to North Korea and live there
I watched a North Korean girl defector
who made a speech with crying
that her neighbours executed in public
The reason was
they watched my favourite Hollywood movie from U.S.
What if
my favourite American movies
such as Iron Man, Captain America
of Marvel Avengers
Thor, Black Widow, Spider-Man etc
Then, execution in public?
At that time,
I watched a full video in English
