Female custodes are purely cringe pandering. There was no reason for their addition other than pure ideology, female representation was covered by SoS this is a political move and nothing more.

I really love these minis. They're part of North Umbrian Tin Soldier's line called "Guards! Guards! Guards?" Which I'm pretty sure is a Prachett reference (somehow I've never read Discworld). They've got so much personality!
