Your answer is wrong, it should be √13 − √12. Also, your method is unnecessarily elaborated. If a, b, c are positive rational numbers, √c irrational, and d is a positive rational number such that d² = a² − b²c then √(a ± b√c) = √((a + d)/2) ± √((a − d)/2). Here we have a = 25, b = 1, c = 624, d² = 625 − 624 = 1² so √(√625 − √624) = √(25 − √624) = √((25 + 1)/2) − √((25 − 1)/2) = √13 − √12.
