How long do you typically keep the young trees in amagi sand? Until you're satisfied with the thickness of the trunk? I've been following your channel for a while, and this year, I planted some young Gardenias in the amagi sand, and the thickening is quite rapid. I suppose it's from oxygen exchange.
It can be maintained with Amagi sand at all times. It may be changed to improve the appearance at exhibitions.

Do you have any tips when trying to propagate Hime shara from cuttings? I have had any luck. The cutting are dipped in rooting hormone and planted in 100% akadama and misted a few times a day.
Cuttings are basically made using Kanuma soil. Cutting the tip of the branch diagonally with a sharp knife will make rooting easier.

Is in it better Kanuma soil then Akadama for Gardenia?
When taking cuttings, use Kanuma soil. After that, use Amagi sand or Akadama (or a mixture of these).
