7/19/24 - Tootsie, Feenix, Curly Que and another new cottontail. But, where's Mama Rabbit? I haven't seen her in 10 days!! i'm worried about her... :( I didn't get to go out there for a few days, but I just hope and pray she'e okay and comes home!! The last time I saw her, she appeared very healthy ane normal. 💕💕💕

Sometimes mamas leave their territories to have a litter elsewhere when it’s this late in the mating/birthing season. Don’t give up hope. I understand how much these sweet beings mean to you. And the mamas, who are with us the longest and trust us with their babies, tend to mean the most. Sending good thoughts that your Mama bunny is alright and comes back to see you swiftly ♥🐰♥

@@Chris-ko5gk No, I wish. The most I've touched is her little soft nose. But, she won't let me pet her... she hops back. Some of the babies have allowed me to gently pet their head though. 😊 🐇

I'm surprised you would give carrots to rabbits as it's really not good for them. You can look up what a healthy diet for a rabbit is in many places but ask your veterinarian. Carrots are too high in carbohydrates and can make them quite ill. Please be careful with your furry friends 💗
Thanks for your comment. I appreciate your concern. I feed these rabbits about 3-4 days week. They mostly feast on the grass in our lawn and other plants. I also give them romaine lettuce and kale. They are very healthy and happy cottontails. 🐇😊 I've been feeding Mama Rabbit for 2 years.

If she was building a nest, she would pluck the hair from her belly while in the nest. I suspect that she's trying to rid herself of fleas.
I also read this online: Female cottontail rabbits often pluck their fur when they are pregnant to line their nests for their babies. This behavior is hormonally driven and usually involves pulling fur from the rabbit's chest, belly, and flanks. The fur is used as a blanket to keep the babies warm.

Taylor is a cutie pie. I have bunnies in my yard too unfortunately I’ve seen predators like Hawks and coyotes. So I planted a whole bunch of big hedges for the bunnies to hide under. Seems to be working pretty well.

How old is Taylor now? And how large? I'm trying to figure out the growth stages of cottontails!
I believe Taylor is about 31/2 - 4 months old now. He/she is still smaller than the other adult rabbits, but catching up in size quickly. Taylor isn't coming around as much. I've seen Mama and Feenix chase him/ her away several times. :(

What a beautiful moment, really interacting with all of them! Except for Tay Tay… I hope also that Taylor is ok! I also learned something about cottontails and maybe leporids 🐰 in general: that they use vocal communication! You just proved it! A lot of that research and scholarly writings about Leporids are really plain wrong. Why am I not surprised?

Their cute wolf cotton tailed rabbits I have wild bunnies in my backyard they live near the pool and I also befriended one which is a boy he was cute but he’s wild so I gave him some carrots and to this summer he still comes to see me

I love when they flop down like that! Curly Que is adorable... 🥰 Hope he/she will take carrots and snacks from me soon like the others. He/she nibbled on 1 or 2 carrots, but I think its teeth aren't quite strong or big enough yet to get a good bite. Cant wait to spend more time with Curly Que! 🐇🐇🐇
