    You need to know that you would be further ahead to throw money out of the window than give it to manulife. Manulife Canada illegally withheld my elderly widowed mother's annuity payments for 8 years and it took three months of daily phone calls to get payment restored. Terrible people. Terrible company. Minus 10 stars.

    An excellent summary of not only how a whole life insurance policy benefits an owner in retirement but also how they save passive income penalties to favourable active business income tax rates. Great job Frank. I am curious: 1) how to record cash surrender values as balance sheet entries? 2) And is Capital Dividend now modified to Death Benefit - Bank Loan - ACB = CDA Credit?

    Highly recommended product for your registered plans (RRSP/RRIF/LIRA/LIF) especially >>> with estate planning features like avoiding probate fees, estate admin fees, legal fees, accounting fees and may also provide creditor protection! I prefer to offer my clients this product to provide them with a Guaranteed Retirement Income for life (despite market volatility)!

    Hi Leo, nice commentary. The more things change is the more they remain the same....the disconnect between field and home office underwriting will always exist because of the respective focus. It leaves room however for someone like you who knows both sides of the coin to be able to bridge the gap and offer valuable insight and solutions to the field underwriter, the client, and their personal physician. You may not remember me, but you were one of my mentors during my underwriting training at LOJ and M&G in the late 80's. I can tell you're enjoying this stint :)
