A Cruel Angel's Thesis - Animenz's Piano Solo
The first part of Animenz's arrangement of A Cruel Angel's Thesis. Access to nice pianos is still proving difficult but hopefully more on the horizon... Performed on a Steinway Model D.

Extra Magic Hour - Animenz's Piano Solo (Cover)
My favourite of Animenz's arrangements to date - I don't think I've ever played anything so cheerful (though I don't think much to the original). This is my first time playing a nice piano in 9 months, and I was rather enjoying myself. The original song is Extra Magic Hour, composed by Akino and arranged marvellously by Animenz.
Pirates of the Caribbean - Jarrod Radnich's Piano Solo
About eight years ago I first saw the TH-cam video of Jarrod Radnich playing his arrangement of Pirates of the Caribbean. I think it's fair to say it heavily influenced my motivation to get better/start properly learning to play the piano. It's taken this long to get the hang of it (despite a couple of mistakes, it's pretty much there). Note the new bottom D string - see my other video.
Breaking a Piano String
Me snapping a bass string on a Steinway Model D. The video doesn't really do the noise it made justice... The video of me playing this (Radnich's Pirates) without breaking the piano is here: th-cam.com/video/aE4u9Yq1a74/w-d-xo.html (with a brand new bass string, of course).
Dvorak - Humoresque (Op.101 No.7) - Piano Solo
Humouresque No.7 (the famous one) by Dvorak. Sounds much better with an orchestra but I don't have one of them.
Only my Railgun - Animenz's Piano Solo (Cover)
My attempt at Animenz's arrangement of Only my Railgun. This is rather fun to play. Performed on a Steinway Model D. The original song is Only my Railgun, performed by fripSide and composed by Satoshi Yaginuma. It sounds rather different though.
Mendelssohn - Songs Without Words No.3 (Op.19b - Hunting Song) - Piano Solo
The Hunting Song from Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words. Performed on a Steinway Model D.
Mendelssohn - Songs Without Words No.1 (Op.19, Sweet Souvenir) - Piano Solo
The first of Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words. Performed on a Steinway Model D. My apologies for the creaky piano stool.
Mendelssohn - Songs Without Words No.2 (Op.19b - Regrets) - Piano Solo

'Regrets' from Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words. Performed on a Steinway Model D.
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Jarrod Radnich's Piano Solo
My attempt at Jarrod Radnich's arrangement of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (advanced piano solo). Rather a nice tune I think. Performed on a Steinway Model D
Mendelssohn - Songs Without Words No.4 (Op.19b - Confidence) - Piano Solo

'Confidence' from Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words. Performed on a Steinway Model D
Mendelssohn - Songs Without Words No.6 (Op.19b, Venetian Boat Song) - Piano Solo

The first Venetian Boat song from Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words, performed on a Steinway Model D. Durham Cathedral's Bells can be heard right at the end.
Steve Wright in the Afternoon Theme - Piano Solo
My arrangement of the opening theme from Steve Wright in the Afternoon on Radio 2. A great piece of music and very fun to play. Performed on a Bösendorfer 280.
Something in A minor - Piano Solo
Something I made up that I haven't got around to naming yet. But it's mainly in A minor so that'll do as a title.
I Vow to Thee, My Country - Piano Solo
My arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country (theme from Holst's Jupiter) - for solo piano. Recorded on a Steinway Model D.

I never knew piano strings could actually break like that! They're not being plucked or bowed so there should be less strain on them.

Just try to imagine if this piano would be played by Cziffra, Rubinstein, Van Cliburn, Orozco...or Matsuev (nowadays). This is not serious... I mean, the quality of modern Pianos is not good at all if compared with the older, in terms of materials, etc. Also, the quality of the bass strings (probably too much tension, which not permits an strong attack). They seem designed especifically FOR pianists without a sound (these pianos produce a huge sound... without doing anything) and physically speaking little, weak and tiny people, like children. It is not serious. One hundred years old Steinways (for example) are just unbreakable and enduring, still being played many of them today. ¿¿Really is not possible to practice interlocked octaves passages in modern pianos..., unless you are a tiny person? The talented young man of this video is not playing specially forte or fotissimo AT ALL (neither aggresively, at the contrary). And a bass string breaks because of a crescendo in descending octaves... 100'000 (or more) dollars piano... I mean, not serious. Something is Wrong, and it is not the pianist.

Love this version. Activity and passion in those left hand runs add so much gravitas to the song. It truly feels victorious and simultaneously solmen, against all odds - inspires great patriotism. Well done!
