GORGE COEUR VENTRE / STILL LIFE TRAILER
I am a screenwriter in the USA. I think Mr. Chan tried to contact me but I did not recognize his name. Does he use the name Dr. Peter Chan?
He was like this with all of his actors on set. On full metal jacket, Adam Baldwin said “man what do you want from me?” Kubrick responded “ better acting”
Interesting how she said she got a “bollocking” .. that’s a word we use in Ireland. Thought it was exclusive to here
RIP sweet angel 💗
I love her face structure ❤
Sorry to hear Shell making excuses for that jerk off malignant narcissistic piece a shit Stanley Kubrick
Nah she knew it was unnecessary. That's something a narcissist would put in her mind to justify. She said that last bit but it doesn't justify. That man is sickening for tormenting her. Very unnecessary
Pause here 1:11 she seemed so sweet and kind she didn’t deserve that
What an asshole
Yep. He was undeniably a genius but also a prick and a bit of a sadist in his own way.
I'm a Kubrick fan but Shelley didn't deserve it
Polanski was part of the club, and helped plan the murder. He is a Satanist and the entire movie is a slap in the face to the public.
R.I.P babe.
No shes in peace RIP 🙏🏻
RIP Cutie
The stress she was under from Kubrick’s relentless badgering really shows in this sequence. Shelley Duvall was a great actor. Period.
Rip
R.I.P Shelly. Sad to see what smoking, diabetes ( cause of death), mental illness did to you.
And Kubrick
Rest in Peace, Shelley Duvall, You were a great actress, this was a great film.
RIP Shelley. You deserved better 😢
Watching this after learning about her passing 😢 1949 - 2024 RIP Shelley Duvall. She deserved better
R.I.P Shelley Duvall
Rip Shelley you gave us one of the most iconic roles but at what cost
Rest in Peace Shelley Duvall 😢
It’s kind of funny she’s waving that knife around
After seeing this Shelley I can see why her character looked tired she truly went through hell!!!!!! She still looked great in makeup and contour on her face and nose as the mom but damn her tiredness you can see behind it all Stanley seems so evil good for her for standing up for herself like good people always get treated bad kind hearted kindness is not a weakness I started showing that to people who think that I don't think so I feel Shelley's pain!!!!!
San Neil & Emily Blunt seemed to have chemistry in that scene in screen play story telling. Guess? My chemistry teach Mr So and so, marriage ito Mrs. So and so, & she had taaught in the business department. Once as they moved together across the room, he lightly in elegant care touched her on her back. They obviously had chemistry in real life. Just peace 🕊️ of God.
And remember, she was in distress, she was stressed, she was displaying REAL emotions, and still she got an razzie award. It's ridiculous, the movie industry is completely garbage.
is she the inspiration for Pearl.?
1:10 super beautiful
I love this because Kubrick always appeared calm and calculated. To see him get frustrated is eye opening. He dosnt berate her or insult her he just tells her what she needs to do and points out there are people busting their ass to make the shot work and she needs to be on point. No excuses just be ready to go.
wow shes beautiful
Then why he didn't applied this technique to the rest of the cast but just her?
He seems to be extra kind to Jack Nicholson in a lot of the "behind the scenes" videos, so he was probably trying to make Jack feel confident.
@@Peter_1986 I don't approve techniques which requires playing with the mind of other individuals and potentially hurt them. There are for sure other methods to cast feelings to your cast without playing with them because you are in a more elevated position in the production. This, to me, just demonstrates that he had a bit of delusional of grandeur in order to morally be okay to proceed with this mindset.
He was probably trying to put her in the mindset of the character since she's essentially a battered wife and Jack is needlessly cruel to her. There's a method to the madness but I certainly don't agree with it either. Making a film is already a stressful and painful enough experience for everyone involved and the director should be a pillar of strength for the cast and crew rather than an adversarial tyrant.
@@silversnail1413 It definitely could have ended with Shelley getting a mental breakdown in the middle of the film shooting. A wicked and lame way to guarantee the best for her role. I am sure Nicholson's role had some things to aim for the same but he wasn't at all on that with him.
She seems like way to sweet
He was so condescending especially saying she’s wasting everyone’s time like no you’re wasting peoples time by making poor Shelley do over 100 takes that’s ridiculous she was so stressed I heard her hair was coming out in clumps
She's soo cute
She's so pretty in her younger years!!!
Crazy Kubrick meat riding happening in the comments
Shelley Duvall's performance as Wendy Torrance is one of the most misunderstood acting performances ever.
She seems like such a kind human being.
Donde la puedo ver?
I watched this picture last night. A 35mm presentation & Shelly Duval was absolutely awesome in this film.
Well that was the goal as it looked like to get her to look traumatized
The idea that Kubrick bullied Shelley Duvall into psychosis is so ridiculous on it's face, and honestly quite sexist and infanilizing. Nevermind the fact that Shelley Duvall herself has personally dispelled this rumor and has been on record saying that she enjoyed working with Kubrick, and the despite being quite tough and challenging on set, was always very kind and personable in private. I wouldn't be surprised if this idea was being pushed by the studio in order to create an aura around the film. "We made this horror movie so scary that it literally drove the actor's insane".
Sounds more like someone jealous of Kubrick and trying to paint him in a more negative light. As a rule when attacking an artist if you can no longer attack his 'work' due to universal praise you attack his personality. Or imply that he never even made the stuff in the first place. Ie Shakespeare.
I have never, ever heard an American say ‘I got a bollocking’. That’s blown my mind hahah
Shelley understands. She said so herself at the end. This may be considered "mean" today but sometimes you gotta be unafraid of being "mean" to get the best result. You gotta like that some filmmakers have, or at least HAD, a serious demand to produce great work.
She understands that it made the movie better. And on that, we all agree. However, the cost of that is basicaly a fucked up mental state for decades. She literaly later admitted herself with some distance, that this experience has fked her over mentaly, having frequent mental breakdowns & panic attacks, to a point, where all of that kept adding up until she quitted acting for about 20 years. Like, yeah, the movie got better, no question. But acting as if that didn't come at the cost of her mental state being in shambles afterwards & as if this is only about being "a lill bit of a snowflake that won't commit to make great movies"
Harvy Keitel hated Kubrick. Great films but he was disrespectful to actors he could bully
Kubrick will method your acting for you.
In case you dont understand #AllMen or #MeToo this should show you. How horrible he was to her cuz he could. So upsetting
Kubrick was an absolute prick for what he done to Shelley
Man im soooooo sad and angry right now, unbelievable
Kubrick, apart from being perfeccionist, was a mad man while filming on the set, if he were alive, he would be probably cancelled today for all he tortured Shelley Duwall.
